Hey everyone!

I'm a big fan of Greek mythology, so I decided to try and make a greek mythology inspired island! What flower combo would fit in your opinion? There is one mythology regarding Apollo and a guy called Hyacinthus, so hyacinths would probably already be really fitting! Any other ideas?

I think the Lily has some representation in Greek mythology.

Your island theme sounds really cool BTW, I would love to see it if you ever feel like posting pics:)

okay so i don’t know anything about greek mythology so i had to do a bit of research but here’s what i found:

apparently in greek times, hellebore flowers were used for a bunch of medicinal purposes and another name for them is christmas rose so maybe roses would also be good? and hyacinths were mentioned in my research, too, so they’d also be good!

Windflowers (anemones) are also in Greek mythology. Aphrodite had a mortal lover named Adonis. One day, he was struck by a boar and while she was mourning his death, her tears get mixed with his blood and anemones sprang out.

There are different versions of that story however, and in some versions the flowers are red roses.

Definitely hyacinths! It's one of the "native" flowers from Greece, all the others are not available in AC unfortunately. Windflowers too, as another common name for them is anemone, and you can find them in many myths.

As a fellow Ancient Greece nerd I love this island concept! <3 If you need help choosing a villager lineup I can help you out ^^

Pansies seem nice because in Greek mythology, they were cultivated by Greeks as herbal medicine and it is linked to the viola flower.

Cosmos should fit in! As the name itself comes from a Greek word :D

I think all the flowers except tulips and lily of the valley work?

I agree but according to wikipedia the lily of the valley was discovered or created(?) by Apollo so it'd fit

Haha NICE! Ok they fit too! Everything except tulips... however with all the greek mythology tales, wouldn't surprise me if one story pops up thus allowing all the flower types to be used. haha!

It could also be a stand in for the narcissus, as the lilies in game look a bit like daffodils to me.

I think white and gold would work really well as a flower aesthetic for ancient Greece. (I know things weren't actually plain white marble but that's the sort of stereotype.)

Love your idea! I am doing something similar - an ancient Greek forest/mountain based on Arcadia (a Greek region, but you probably know that) and it's mythology and major sanctuaries.

I think you can probably go for any flower (see posts above), but I wanted to share a colour scheme. I am partly going for black and orange because of the colours of ancient pottery, and black and purple (the colours of one of the must important goddesses of the region I've talked about - Despoina). Maybe you can go for a similar method, maybe there are any gods or goddesses you like with a particular colour scheme.

You can never go wrong with the primary colours, since most of the sculpture was painted with them anyway. Or just go for white of you want to go for a modern "what we think ancient Greece looked like"-look, as advised above.

Anyway, I would love to see your results :D
