I haven't gotten anyone's. So far I do their errands, send them letters with presents, and talk to them on and off each day, I even randomly visit their houses and allow them to visit mine too but nothing! I've also had the game since the release date.

Same here. Had tons of villagers come and go, a few best friends I write and talk to all the time, others none at all. No pictures. Maybe it's just random.
