Yes, if you?re good friends with them they will include their picture in the letter when they leave, but if you?re that good friends with them chances are that you will never let them leave.

How close, exactly? I talk to my villagers every day, always say yes to their requests (even if I can't do it), and I have never turned them down, such as not answering when they need me, etc. I send them letters for coming over and replies if they send me letters. Is that good enough, you think? I've already gotten the Good Samaritan badge from Phineas almost 4 weeks into the game (possibly less, possibly more?)
