You can't blame Apple for advertising their browser. More people need to try it out to so they can see for themselves how great it is. Besides, Google advertises Chrome like crazy, and Microsoft doesn't even need to advertise IE because it's preinstalled on Windows. Firefox is only used as much as it is today because it's keep its popularity from the days before Safari and Chrome where it was pretty much the only good browser out there. But even after better browsers like Chrome and Safari were released, many people who are used to Firefox refuse to change browsers, much like people who refuse to switch from IE because it's what they're used to. Of course, some people stick with Firefox for the add-ons, which was the biggest thing that was keeping me from switching, but I soon found that Safari also has add-ons for everything I wanted, and more.
Well I have the same beef with IE for Microsoft's forcible installation of it, but IE also sucks so there are worse reasons to avoid it :-p

I doubt it'll be long before you're asked which browser you want to use when you install Windows.

Most used ≠ best. If that was true, then IE would be the best browser ever. >_>
I think the reason that IE is the most used is because a lot businesses and school have them installed on the PC's. I have noticed some changes though. The computers at my school did have IE on them, but now they all have FireFox. Maybe Microsoft will discontinue IE one day...
That is exactly how the computers in my school are. All you could use was Internet Explorer, it was only until this year that they also had firefox on the computers.

p.s. 1,000 post ... about time (:

Being a user of Internet Explorer all my life, I have to say that's my favorite. However, I've also used all of the others for different things *Firefox for the bell system here, Google Chrome from a recommendation, Opera on the Wii, Safari on the iPod* They're all good, but I'm just so used to IE that I don't really use any others.

Sorry but safari and chrome are way better than any other browser, no matter what anybody says.
It's a matter of preference and what you're using your browser for.

Just like an operating system, gaming console, ect.

It's mostly preference; they're all great.
Except for the fact that Internet Exploder is almost unanimously considered sub-standard.

Internet Explorer is the most awful browser ever, I can't see why anyone would choose to use it.

Because they're lazy and don't want to change the default browser on Windows. >_> Seriously, Internet Explorer is just pure fail. Windows really needs to stop packaging it with their operating system (or just stop making their operating system altogether, lol).

Well, how are you supposed to get another browser if you don't have IE? o-o

What's the best thing about IE?

<div class='spoiler_toggle'>Answer</div><div class="spoiler" style="display:none;">You can use it to download Firefox.</div>

When you start up your operating system for the first time, it should give you an option of which browser(s) you would like to install. Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc. You know, you don't need a web browser to download things from the internet. How do you think your computer downloads updates? (Well, if it's Windows, it very well may be using Internet Explorer in some way, since Internet Explorer is woven so deep into Windows and Windows is so dependent to it that if you delete it your computer won't work anymore, lol.)

No, I deleted mine. Windows has an auto-update system, so it could allow you to choose your browser. Unfortunately, Microsoft keeps trying to shove their crappy browser down everyone's throats.

Deleting the desktop icon isn't deleting the entire browser. IE has so many source files on Windows that it's quite difficult to completely remove it from your computer, and if you do, you'll likely *censored.3.0* up your operating system.

Nah, I got rid of the files from my comp, not just the desktop.

I sometimes use IE

It's not that bad :s
You may not be able to notice how bad it truly is, but trust me, it's horrible, even if you can't see it. IE is just a giant security flaw.

I still prefer Chrome because Firefox makes me claustrophobic.

Internet Explorer is just integrated well into Windows 7.

I'm ready for the new version of FF :c
