They come out every night. I put them in a jar and let them go. Except sometimes their heads get stuck in the lid. :L

The middle part of FL doesn't have Fireflies..

..Only Lovebugs. >____>
I get plenty of those Lovebugs too dude, man I hate em.

I think Fireflies in Florida might be a rare thing, I don't usually see them that often, but they've been flying around all week where I live.
Oh god, dem lovebugs, jesus christ.

We have like 2 lovebug seasons a year, right?
I know one is around like November or something and another is in the summer.
Oh my... I'll take a picture of my car after I get back home from school. It's disgusting.
Oh I know what you mean. They get ALL OVER. The wind shield is horrific during lovebug season =x
I don't really care about them though, they're okay.

They produce light via chemical reactions in their abdomen to attract mates.

Obviously, if they used fire inside their bodies they'd die.

I haven't seen them since I left Pennsylvania... Arizona doesn't have fireflies. ;_;
No dip Sherlock!
Again, why so *censored.3.0*ing rude? Not everyone knows that Arizona doesn't have fireflies. I sure didn't until I moved here.

Alright, alriiight, let's not start anything here. Keep things on topic, keep it chill.

I personally haven't seen any fireflies yet this year, and I'm in IL.

It's called bioluminescence, and luciferase acts on luciferin, which are grouped up with magnesium ions, oxygen, and atp to produce light. =3

No, I didn't google that.
and no, I haven't seen any yet this year, they usually show up around early June/late May.
