he's given me four or FIVE or SIX of just a few pieces of the set and I only need three more to complete it
and he keeps asking for white feathers when I have bunches of three of literally every other colour sitting around not doing anything

I've been playing for THREE AND A HALF HOURS off and on [mostly on]
I'm debating just giving up and trading for the rest of the pieces but the collector in me wants to get 'em all now

If you carry only the feathers of a color you don't want (ideally ones you have a ton of extras of) and then go chat with your villagers, they can challenge you to some easy games with the winner taking one of the loser's feathers and they usually offer the color feather Pave is asking for as a prize.

That's how I got enough feathers to eventually acquire the entire Pave set. Like, 3 of them.

Sorry that all your villagers want to play Rock Paper Scissors, though. D: Mine usually wanted to play Charades with me. Maybe it depends on which villagers/personalities you ask?

Ugh yeah I gotta finish festivale once I place this villagers plot.
I was actually 2 pieces away from finishing. He kept giving me the same damn thing over and over again for my rainbow feathers... such a waste.
