favourite Sanrio character(s) 🌠💗

I know this has been asked before, but the last thread was from a while ago and wasn't really comprehensive with its poll, so I've decided to make a new one! the question is...

who is/are your favourite Sanrio character/s? and what is it about them that you like so much?

I'd never really been interested in collecting Sanrio merchandise for the longest time, and I'm not sure why. they're so cute! I figured it was a matter of time before prolonged exposure to Sanrio merchandise (especially after walking through stores in Toronto that had soooo much stuff!) would lead me to like it hehehe.

for a little while now I've noticed that Kuromi is growing on me a lot. at first it was because she's usually associated with the colour purple, which is my favourite, but now it's also the fact that she's just a sassy mischievous bab hehe. by extension, My Melody is growing on me a lot too. she looks like she's very gentle and sweet and I love that.

I don't have much Sanrio merch, but I bought a wall calendar for this year (Kuromi is the featured character for June, my birth month hehehe, and yesterday I bought an adorable beanie with My Melody and Hello Kitty on it. while at those shops in Toronto I saw some cute keychains where the characters were floating on some kind of liquid in water, and now I wish I had bought at least one for Kuromi! I'll have to go back for it next time I visit. I would also love to buy a sweatshirt with Kuromi and My Melody on it, preferably a white cotton one so I can tie dye it pink and lavender hehehe. I don't want to go crazy with merchandise, but I do think it's cute and I may try to look out for merch more now.

My favorites are Retsuko, Chococat, and Big Challenges! I'm so happy all three of them are in HKIA. (I like Retsuko because I relate to her a lot, Chococat because I grew up with black cats, and Big Challenges because life is full of big challenges, and his dare devil personally in HKIA is really fun.) All of them need more merch, especially Big Challenges.
I also love Miss Kuromi of course, and I like it when characters have mischievous counterparts like the Magical Twin Comets and Lloromannic. Usahana is also super cute and reminds me of Stitches. I love Sanrio sm

little twin star always has a special place in my heart since I'm a twin and love their sleepy dreamy aesthetic ! it also used to be a lot more rare to find little twin star stuff out in the wild which made it feel special altho it's got p popular now

I love most of them, but my favorite is Usahana! I really love her colorful vibe and I have a huge soft spot for bunnies

Pompompurin, Pocchaco and Hello Kitty are my babies. I love most of them though, they make me smile. (❁´◡`❁)

I haven’t been interested in Sanrio until more recently with the Animal Crossing collab. So I’m not really familiar with all the characters yet though I’ve seen some of them around since I was a kid.

Right now, I’d say my favorites would be: pompompurin, cinnamoroll, chococat, Kuromi, Keroppi. Two are largely because I know two friends really love them and seeing them in their profile at one point at least or them talk about it, got them to grow on me a lot .

I love Kuromi’s expression; she looks so sassy, silly and cute.

Of these all, I love Pompompurin the most, at least atm. I love his design since it is really cute and find it humorous (though tbh, I’m not sure why; I did read something that it is part of Japanese humor.)

I honestly had no idea about chococat until recently, though I vaguely remember seeing that there was a black cat. Didn’t know its name until now . I love it so much though because obvious reasons and one of my late cats was a black cat.

I love Cinnamoroll’s design, especially its eyes and floppy ears (I thought it was a bunny at first though). I am not much of a pastel person but the art is seriously so cute and the colors.

Sanrio products are so cute. I have been meaning to look into getting some of their products. I really wanted the Pompompurin burger plush but unfortunately it is owned by a company I do not support and am boycotting .

Kuromi, love her design and she has a fun personality. The HKIA game has also recently made me more interested in Little Twin Stars, Wish Me Mell, and Chococat. I love them all though.

Hello Kitty has always been my favorite Sanrio character followed by My Melody, Keroppi, Kuromi, Tuxedo Sam, Little Stars, and Gudetama.

I just want to go on the record saying that, besides My Melody and Kuromi, I think my third favourite Sanrio character is Pompompurin! he's just a chubby happy doggo who loves to snack and I love that sm hehehe

If you asked me when I was a kid, I would've said Hello Kitty, lol. I had a bunch of Hello Kitty stuff back then, and when I realized there was a bunch of Hello Kitty anime I was amazed. There was this one OVA(?) I used to watch over and over, and it was... uh, about Hello Kitty learning to use the potty. (//w//) I also just want to say that the English theme song for Hello Kitty's Paradise is a banger.

I'm not really into Sanrio stuff nowadays and have more of an interest in San-X and Sumikko Gurashi when it comes to kawaii franchises, but as of posting Gudetama is the only Sanrio character that speaks to me. It may not look as cutesy as the other characters, but that, as well as its relatability, is the reason why I really like it.

Tuxedo Sam has my heart! He is my favorite and I have no idea why he isn't more popular. I never see merch of him when out and about, aside from a Squishmallow once.

I also love Keroppi for nostalgic reasons (there was a Keroppi arcade game that I enjoyed playing as a child).

Of the more popular characters, I like Pompompurin and Gudetama, but they don't come close to my love for that dapper fellow.
