Tbh I actually like Tex LOL but he wouldn’t be my fave. My favorite smug is Julian without a doubt but O’Hare, Marshal, and Pietro aren’t far behind!

Of those that I had, Chops. I love how unique and dapper he looks, he does add quite some class to my island. I also like Olaf a lot, sadly I don't have him (yet.) Olaf has the cutest little tail out of all of the anteaters and I love his eyelashes
Pietro is also quite a tempting canditate for residency, I love that he's a clown and that they didn't give him the lazy personality. I'm not a huge fan of the sheep in this game, but Pietro's design is growing on me. He's no Chops or Olaf, though.

Shep and Marshal. I had Shep in NL and have Marshal in NH now, but may swap him out for my boy Shep again. Shep fits the casual vibe of my island too well.

I never had a favorite smug villager playing New Leaf, but I really did like Shep a lot. He was always kind and chill. Now playing New Horizons, I have become quite fond of Marshal. He has the chillness of Shep and I find him adorable because he loves to sing. He sings like all day everyday lol.

A bit ashamed to say I have Raymond, giving him a chance but I’m not a huge smug fan, just I loved his design when it was released. Had Marshal in NL for a long time (still have) and do like him, have had Zell in NH too but I just can’t. There are some awesome smug designs; Keaton, Olaf, Tex, Pietro, I’m just always disappointed when I actually meet them.

Some answers on this thread are really funny, smugs might be the best personality on NH? They have great dialogue and plenty of interesting unique designs.

Glad to see the Pietro love, I always thought that he deserved to be in the top tier with Julian because they're both so bright and unique and magical.

I also love Curlos (he was my first camper) and Henry, who I still have in NL. But I'll throw in a new name in the mix: Hans.
I didn't get him in NL because I hated his house but they fixed it for NH and I really want him. I love that he's a big yeti with such a sweet and funny personality, it's a good contrast.

Henry the frog was my forced campsite move in and I’ve grown to love him! Probably part of it is the fact that I love frog villagers though.

Lopez is in my new leaf town and he’s a close second though
