Experience with weather (any unusual conditions in your town today?)

A few days ago I loaded my game at around 11 am and there was a huge double rainbow on the title screen as Diana was walking around. I went back and forth a few hours & loaded up the welcome screen to see if it would reset but the rainbow was always there in a specific window of time. To my surprise, it never rained on that day. I really wanted it to, too!

Basically, I'm wondering if anyone knows a little bit more about how weather conditions work on the game. Is there a way to reset to get a specific type of weather you're wanting? If anyone knows more about the mechanics please enlighten me.

I've spent a lot of time resting my campground to get dreamies and I've noticed that when you create a new save file the weather always reverts to being sunny despite how it looked on the title screen. There's a lot of contradictory information on the internet so I'm trying to figure out the most I can.

Any unusual weather in your town today? I love storms and meteor showers and would love to find a way to reset for them but I'm not sure it's possible.

Double rainbows are rare as heck and as far as I know completely random.
I don't believe you can reset for weather, you'd have to simply move forward a day at a time and hope the AC weather gods are working in your favor. As far as I'm aware that's all you can do.. for example, if you wanted to save your DA with a certain type of weather you just have to tt around or play daily and wait for the perfect day to come around.

However the bulletin board usually has weather updates before a storm or meteor shower is coming through, so you can keep an eye on that and plan acordingly

I have heard someone saying that a certain day (let's say, july 2th, 2017, for example) had a rare purple sunrise, as if it'd happen in all towns as long as they're loaded in that certain day and time. I haven't tried it myself and forgot the correct date and time, so, oops.

I also noticed the new character makes it sunny when plot resetting. Maybe it's because the game thinks it's a new person playing fr the first time and they want them too see a pretty town, as if a stormy one would discourage them from playing? x)
