Have you either 1. Had villagers finish a PWP for you, whether or not you donated, or 2. Even had villagers do 100% of the donations? How long did it take? I'm curious because it seems like villagers barely donate anything and it would take years to complete PWPs relying on villager donations alone, so I want to know if anyone actually had experiences with a PWP being completed by villagers.

I haven't. I don't think villagers will complete the pwp donation, even if it's only one bell away. I prefer it that way because you can only demolish a pwp on the same day you build a new one if the new one hasn't been paid off yet, and I tend to build and tear things down at the same time.

The only time my villagers donated for a pwp was when I put a streetlight just so a new villager didnt put his house in that place. They donated almost half of the money by the end of the day... I was like "really?" I canceled the proyect after the villager arrived and all the donations were lost. But the pwps I really wanted to keep I have donated it all by my self...ridiculous.

I have, purely by accident though. I think it was one of the benches or something, it was only something that cost around 50,000 bells to begin with anyway. I was doing a lot of tt at that point and by the time I had finished and started playing normal again, I checked the pwp and it was so close to being paid off. Was literally a few bells short and I hadn't contributed a thing while I was tt'ing.
I'm thinking if it wasn't for time travel it would have taken an awful lot longer to complete it just on villager donations alone

Yep in my first town because I really didn't care too much about pwps and managed to finish the lighthouse without donating

don't they donate 100 bells a day? i noticed that when i was tting around, but i don't think something expensive could be paid off, and they don't pay it off in full. rather spend my money than rot.

I haven't but I remember a tumblr post by someone who tested this and it took them TT'ing 8 years in the future to complete a log bench

I believe when I was time travelling a bit ago, I time travelled a couple of years into 2050 I believe and I had animals pay off my campsite completely I think. I think I contributed a bit to it, but I just ignored it for the rest of the time I was time travelling to do so.

This is new to me I never knew they ever donated at all, does it tell you who and how much..I mean they do suggest some of them so it makes sense but I've never waited to see.

Yep, they can! It doesn't show who donated, but it does show how much they contributed.

I've never tried this, but all I know is how I wouldn't have the patience for it haha

Omg it's possible? The donations they give are tiny. I did used to resent them in those moments but ofc I have more than enough bells these days and that's back when it took me days to pay off pwps instead of seconds.

I'm pretty sure they can donate up to around a thousand bells a day.
As for the question OP is asking, no, though in one of my older towns one of my PWP's was probably paid with around 50% villager donations.

In my second town i usually wait for my villagers to pay off my projects usually because i time travel a lot

I never knew they actually donated anything! I just thought it was players who could donate money :)
