Has anybody found an identifiable solution? I feel horrible because I am never able to successfully trade/visit with other people. I'm all updated and my wifi works fine otherwise. :'( I may just have to resort to going to Starbucks every time I want to visit/host visitors lol.
OMG yes! I have this problem literally all the time! It's really annoying because it means I can't have a cycle town, I can't trade, I have to sometimes miss out on villagers that I really want to adopt all because of this error. I think its something to do with the connection between you and someone else's Wi-Fi because I can connect to some peoples towns. I'm trying to find a solution but haven't yet...I've just had to deal with it for years.
I used to have this problem with my DS lite years ago. My wi-fi was good but couldn't connect online to anyone and would occasionally work. I found this page which might help. In my case, the only solution was to buy a more up to date router. ;^; I hope you find a solution, good luck!
Ive had that error before but it turned out it wasn't a problem my end, it was a problem with the wifi on the other person side.
But that was because they were using a wifi connection in a busy college. Are lots of other people using your wifi at the same time as you're trying to connect to do a trade? Although, if you can get Ito work in Starbucks, which I assume would be busier than your home, I'm not sure. Unless it's an issue with your router, as somebody else said. When I had problems with my home internet, it turned out I needed a new box fitted
