Duping shirts without hacking?

I hesitate bring this up, some time ago during the 7-11 rv event, I was able to order some of those 24-shop uniforms. Is it possible to get more by giving one to a villager? How would I go about getting one back? Just hoping one is on display when I'm invited over?

I got everyone to wear the Epona Outfit today, then was worried they might not let me buy the excess shirts from their houses, as it's not a regular shirt, but I've bought five back already!
