Duping- Is it safe?

Im so slow, I just found out about duplicating items in acnl today, and I really want to do it to get more of the gracie set.BUT with the glitch comes a warning: if you dont flip the wireless switch off in time, it's bye-bye to you and your town. That just made me skeptical. Is it safe..?

I've never duped as I get items and IGB from the forums.

So I don't know if that would happen or not

And just so you know: no, that doesn't happen.

I duped when the glitch was first discovered way back when, and the worst thing that happened was that my item disappeared.

it's not 100% safe but i've never heard of anyone losing their town

You run the risk but I say to go for it. Though that sounds like the kind of scare-mongering you'll get from people who don't want you to do it. Bunch of liars they are. Can't trust them as far as you can throw them. Always mongering. Just do it, double or nothing, etcetera.
