I've seen the other topic about the new DSi, but I didn't really find my answer there, and it can never hurt to ask, I guess.

I was thinking about buying one because I like how big it is and it looks pretty awesome, but besides it's appearance and size, are there actually any internal changes? Does it come with special features, stuff like that?

I have a regular DS Lite, it's kind of wrecked but it still works, and I thought buying a gaming device with a freaking camera in it was kind of a moneywaste, but now that it's almost two times as big? Is it really worth it to by a DSi LL or is it a serious waste of money because they're going to release a new model very shortly anyway?

It would make playing games a lot cooler ..

I got 1,000 Nintendo Points when I connected it to the Nintendo DSi Shop Channel, so I like it.

But whether you get it is up to you, Fishchan.

Lol if that's the only reason you liked it ..

Yeah that's what I thought, but I think other people's opinion can't hurt <3

The DSi XL (it's only known as the DSi LL in Japan) is better than the DSi in many ways. First, and most noticeably, are the bigger screens, which are 4.2 inches, 93% bigger than the DSi's screens. I think the screens may be brighter, too, but I'm not 100% sure on that. But I am sure that the DSi XL's screens are much better than the DSi's, not only in size, but in material. It uses wide angle viewing screens, which make it easy to see the screens from an angle and reduces glare, so people around you can watch you play.

Also, the DSi XL's battery life is longer, lasting 13 to 17 hours, as opposed to the DSi's 9 to 14 hours. The DSi XL's speakers are also better, emitting louder and crisper sound than the DSi. It also has two styli; one that fits into the DSi XL and is slightly longer than the DSi's stylus, and one jumbo pen-like one that doesn't fit into it.

Depending on your region, the DSi XL will come preinstalled with certain DSiWare. The North American release will come preinstalled with Photo Clock, Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Math, Nintendo DSi Browser, and Flipnote Studio (the latter two being free downloads, anyway).

There are going to be a lot of people telling you that it's a "waste of money" and such, because they say it's just "a bigger DSi that isn't portable", but that's not true. Don't listen to other people's opinions. Decide for yourself which is better for you. If you prefer a smaller DSi with a matte finish and don't care about the upgrades, then go with the normal DSi. If you prefer bigger screens, better sound, and all the rest, and a glossy finish like that of the DS Lite, then the DSi XL is the choice for you.

You have a ds lite??

Just dave up for whatever handheld nintendo will probably come out with sometime next year.

Also, those rumors that are going around about a new DS are all false. Nintendo confirmed them false at (or maybe it was shortly after) their media summit. They even said that there's not going to be new Nintendo hardware, console or handheld, for quite some time. So don't worry about getting the DSi XL and soon after Nintendo releasing a new DS, because it's not going to happen for awhile.

Just get an old DS lite imo, the DSi has nothing special about it whatsoever, apart from a low quality camera and the ability to download games that don't work eg: Warioware: Snapped.

The camera may not be the greatest, but it works just fine. I use it all the time. And if you don't have a DSi or DSi XL, you can't play DSiWare and DSi-only games, and you won't get the DSi-enhanced features of certain games. WarioWare: Snapped! isn't the greatest example of DSiWare. There are much better titles available, such as Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! and Art Style: PiCTOBiTS. And there's even greater games to come, like this.

I represent the part in bold.

Because really, that's all it really is with a few upgrades.

Well then, what's the point in buying a portable when it's not a portable? It's buying a console.

And those are stupid upgrades.

Some things about it sounds so awesome, especially the size, I do think I'm going to get one, but I'll still think it over when more information is released, stuff like that.

It would be so nice to play Soul Silver on a big screen :D Thanks for all this stuff guyyyss!

And besides, when I'm planning on buying a new DS anyway, I might as well get this cool one, instead of a regular one.

Yeah, just keep in mind that it's supposed to be played on a table not your hands.

I thought the dsi sounded cool as well, then I bought one and wished I still had 150 euro...

Big waste

That's true, and saving the money for something else is also a better option, and that's why I'm still pondering you know, but I'll just leave it after I'm done with my exams ;__; So much stress right now D:

ORIGINAL GAME BOY SAYS "HI".

Just because it's bigger doesn't mean it's not portable. >_>

When I get mine on March 28th, I'll record a comparison video between the DS, DS Lite, DSi, and DSi XL for you.
