How did you guys choose what villagers you want in your town?

After I got my first Dream Suite I'd visit other people's dream towns to check out their villagers and if I saw one I liked,Id get them for my town.The Animal Crossing Wiki is a good place to see pictures of all the villagers in the game.I used it to see pics of the villagers I wasn't familiar with:

This is the grand master list of all AC villagers, so... I looked through this and wrote down all the villagers that appealed to me (that appeared in NL of course) as my list of potential dreamies, then I looked through my list and determined which villager of each personality I really really want in my town at the time. c:

I just chose villagers that I enjoyed interacting with in previous Animal Crossing games, and there were some that were new to New Leaf. After seeing them in other peoples towns/seeing pictures of them on Tumblr is when I knew I would want that particular villager in my town. Incase a current dreamie moves out of my town I have a listof other villagers I would enjoy having in my town as well.

I just looked up a complete list of all the villagers in New Leaf and chose what villagers I wanted form there :3 I have all but one dreamie in my main town now.

I googled acnl villagers and went by looks haha. Molly became a dreamie once she moved in because she's adorable and super sweet.

+ additional question: how did you get them?

I got my villagers from the campsite,random move-ins,from cycling threads here on TBT and other websites and also from my own cycling town.There are also a lot of individual ACNL players that give away or sell villagers in the Villager Trading Plaza.I've only paid bells for a handful of villagers.I got most of them for free.

Being lucky with the campsites and this website. It just so happens everytime I go there, someone is selling my dreamie at a very reasonable price, tbt or igb wise. I will say that it's already been hard getting the dreamies everyone else thinks is ugly, so I mostly end up getting the typical, pretty dreamies (for example, getting all the chickens, eagles and tigers are going to be hard because everyone else loves cats, bunnies, and wolves so dang much.) It still beats camp resetting so much.

I checked out a list of all the villagers and picked out the ones that looked like cute, natural looking animals, like no crazy coloirs like pink or green lol i like animals that look like they belong in the forest

Some of my dream villagers were my starters (because to be honest, I didn't realise people even did dream villagers when I first got new leaf!) so I got kind of attached to Ankha and Melba (though I don't plan on moving them across to my new town). Then there were the ones I saw pictures of and fell in love with, like Lolly, because I have a silver tabby myself. And then some appeared in my campsite and I fell in love (Tangy!) and some I fell in love with in people's dream towns! (Whitney, Fuchsia, FLURRY!). Also, googling their name and seeing artwork people have done of them was a great way for me to fall in love with their character because it gave them even more personality!
As you can see, I got mine from all different places, but the ones I needed that weren't in my town or campsite I got from trading any high tier villagers I got in my campsite for TBT and buying my dreamies on here. Good luck!

I looked at the list of all of them, chose the unique and nice looking ones. SAdly, most of them are tier ones or two's. Two examples of this are Julian (He's a flipping uniucorn!) and COco, Who's a gyroid basically.

I mainly look at the Wiki and see who has the cutest or coolest designs.
