I'm resetting my town to try to start fresh with a decent layout, a fruit I like (apples, peaches, or cherries), and at least one of the villagers I'm hoping to collect... Only three resets in, I was overjoyed to be greeted at the station by my FAVORITE possible starting villager (Diana), and then dismayed to find out the native fruit was pears, which I hate.

What should I do? I'd hate to reset on Diana, because I know I probably won't get her again and her popularity makes her hard to adopt from other players, but I can't stand the thought of playing a game with pears... I could potentially try to send Diana to my sister's game to then send back to my file later, but it would take some doing, since she's currently at 10 villagers and already holding two for me. Advice?

If you really don’t like the pears, imo either replace the trees, or reset. Unless you want her as a starting villager only, Digimon is selling Diana for 10TBT, So if you want, let me know whenever you can get her from their villager shop and I’ll happily send you the TBT to pay for her :)

Oh, that would be really sweet, thank you! ;; I just got the urge to start playing ACNL again and start fresh with a new town, and I thought it'd be cool to try to get a specific set of villagers this time, but I'm still new to all this. I had started TTing to try to fill my village up with villagers so I could cycle Diana out, move someone out of my sister's town, move Diana there, and then restart and move her to mine, but it would've taken forever...

It’s no problem ^^ I’d be irritated too if I finally got a villager I love just to find out something (rocks in the way, fruit, bad layout) completely ruins the town.

Yeah I totally understand, It’d take ages, especially if your sister has obtained some of her dream villagers too as you wouldn’t be able to just TT until someone random decides to move
(Welcome to the forums btw :D there are loads of nice people here that can help out with just about anything ^-^).

Edit: Actually, if you don’t mind, I think I’ll send the TBT now in case I forget or I’m asleep when you can adopt her >-<
Lmk if you need anything else to help you start off in your new town! (perfect fruit, bells, I might have a few furniture sets that you’d like, etc.) ^^

Thank you so much! I'll go get Diana as soon as I get settled in :D

Unfortunately, the pears continue to plague me... I found the nicest layout I've ever seen, and it's home to not one, but TWO of my dreamies from the start (Merengue and Bluebear), but it also has pears. I think I'm just going to suck it up and replace the pear trees, because I can't bear to reset what's otherwise such amazing luck...

depends: how much do you value perfect fruit trees of your preferred fruit?

if you don't mind not having, then just keep and replace the pear trees.

If you'd prefer to have though, then reset.

I'd think this all depends on if you're planning to use a specific perfect fruit in your layout or how much you like the general town layout. If you just don't like pears, then you can just get rid of them with other trees and keep Diana. Anyhow, I'm glad you were able to make a choice. :)

EDIT: As Delta said!

Well, do you plan on adding pathwork and organized villagers plots, or letting them move where ever?

If I had one town, and my dreamie was there but I had a fruit I didn't like (peaches only because I have 2 other towns with them already) I'd be tempted to reset cause chances are, they put their house in a stupid spot, like in front of a bridge. It also depends on what dreamie it is. Popular ones, like tier one would make me hesitate simply cause they are rare, but common ones like Tutu, I might reset. Plus, if you do things right, you can just aggressively keep cycling throu a personality group until they show up. Ex, if your town is making a snooty move in next, then you can keep acting like you're plot resetting them until you get the one you want of that group.

So I guess it depends on who they are and what you plan to do with the town. If you want them to move in randomly but you hate pears, then get rid of the pear trees (or keep a few hidden since animals might ask for them).

Secret's native fruit is cherries, which I didn't really want since I know someone irl who has cherries as a native fruit, and I wanted to add variety. However I'm gonna get rid of the cherry tees cause they don't match my color scheme.

Those two seem like easy enough options to fix.
For the pears, you can easily remove all of them by cuttting down , and the replant one of the nicer fruits. For Diana , if you do decide to reset, you can always get her in the villager trading plaza. Ive gotten a lot of dream villagers there easily.

If you really want to have a certain perfect fruit, then I would advise resetting. If you do not really care about perfect fruit, then just cut down and replace all your pear trees.

I was many times in such a situation as you. I'm also not a fan of pears. Sometimes, I just
resetted the town immediately when I saw that it has pears, even if I liked the layout. But
after a while, I decided to keep the town and just replace the pears with fruits I liked, as
it sucked to renounce a nice looking town just because of the fruit. So if you find a map
that you really like or villagers you want but the town has pears and you don't mind about
not having perfect versions of the fruit you like (or you care more about the town layout
and/or villagers then the fruit, like these two are more important to you), then I would say
stick with that town and just replace the all pears.

It would bother me too much knowing my native fruit was something I didn’t like (I only accept apple, peach or pear) Even cutting down and replacing them all would still annoy me. Plus, when I WiFi with others I like to participate in perfect fruit trading so it would be a problem for me to cut them all down. I’d definitely pick map over villagers when starting out. You can adopt villagers easily but you’ll be stuck with your map forever.

So your native fruit is your primary reason for resetting? Think about all of the pros and cons. You have pears as a native fruit, and you don?t want perfect pears. You want another perfect fruit. However, it?s going to be a hell of a time getting Diana. Do you want to go through all of that trouble getting all of your progress back because you don?t like pears? Only you know if it is worth it, and only you know if you are going to immediately regret it afterwards. Good luck.
