Does everybody love Raymond?

Dilemma!

I really wanted Raymond and invested no small amount of effort to find him through the campsite method. I’ve had him for about 3 weeks now and I’m just not feeling it for him. I have Marshal too and he seems to have much more personality than Raymond who is just a bit boring imo.

If it wasn’t Raymond I would have swapped him out long ago but because it is I’m really torn on what to do.

Has anybody else found they just can’t bond with him or, if you love him, why? Did it take time to get him to engage?

I really like how Raymond looks, and his eyes are really unique!
That said, my town is like a mix between cute and medieval, and Raymond's office looking house doesn't fit at all!
So for me it was just a matter of mixing and matching themes and Raymond didnt make it haha.

Even though I freakin' LOVE cats, the new villagers didn't really pique my interest and honestly, it's because I never found old villagers I wanted in NL so I've been more focused on finding old ones I wanted for my NH island. Thankfully I think my villager line up is complete apart from Rowan who I never really clicked with.

edit- could you not have Marshal and Raymond? They look like they'd make a right mischievous pair

He's meh in my opinion. I found him while island hopping once. I don't really see the appeal. I think there are other cats who are way cuter. Also he doesn't really live up to the hype.

I like that he is a cat, but he is not more appealing to me than a lot of other cats. His design is quite nice though. Overall I don't see the appeal, for me the hype around Marshall was easier to understand. He stood out more for my taste. But thats probably the thing, my taste is just different.

I quested for Raymond right at the beginning of the game and to be honest with you i... L O V E him. I must have been at about 60 hours when i got him, not i'm at 750 and i've not tired of seeing him day in and day out. I honestly have no words on just how much I adore this baby business cat. He's the best.

he grew on me a bit. but still, despite of popular rage over his eyes, that doesn't do it for me. it's his style and fangs. i like his house exterior despite it not matching the office interior. i have marshal too, and i feel like they swapped exteriors. marshal got this minimalist bright exterior and such a natural & dark cozy interior that matches raymond's exterior more. funny enough, they are next door neighbors.

I moved him in to see what the hype is all about. I also wanted his style being a business cat with heterochromia, but well, I could not bond with him the same way I can with Marshal or even Julian, so I moved him out sometime ago. My daughter still have him in her island so that's okay. I can still talk to him if I want to.

I haven't even managed to get him yet, but I still love him nonetheless. He reminds me of one of my favourite musicians David Bowie because of the heterochromia, and his original clothing with the waistcoat just looks really cool and unique compared to most other basic villagers. To be completely honest though, the main reason I really like Raymond is because of my head canon ship of him and Marshall. I love creating villager couples on my island, and that ship is definitely my favourite one by far. I can just imagine them both sitting down in a little cafe and chilling together while drinking a coffee and reading the morning newspaper.

Ok whew that got out of hand, TLDR; I just really like Raymond I guess haha.

one thing i have to say is that i don't find him "cute", he's neatly designed but cute is not something i would describe him imo. which i feel like a word that is vastly misused in ac-verse lol. marshal or dom is an example of cute. raymond looks too serious for me to label him as cute, when i see fan art of him in "baby" style of drawing, it's more cuter than the actual raymond. he is what he is, smug.

I'd have to agree with this, I think I'd like Raymond a great deal more if he wasn't so hyped up. How can anything live up to that kind of hype? Anyway it doesn't really matter in the end, either you like Raymond as a villager or you don't. I understand the sport and excitement in seeking out the most highly sought after villagers but honestly I'd have to say (at least in my experience) that the hunt is always the more exciting part and when you'll love the villager the most. You might as well keep him if you have gone to all the trouble, he is pretty cute. In the end though it's up to you. Don't worry about value.

I've seen him on some of the other staff members islands and think he's cool. Yet to find him myself.

If you don't enjoy having him then replace him with a villager you vibe with more.

LOL same I don’t really want to be reminded of an office environment when I’m playing the game to relax. I do think he has a unique design but I much prefer other smugs (and other cats)!

He's cool, but I prefer more cats over him although he did grew on me.

He's okay, I like his design. But I never really wanted to get Raymond, since I have a lot of cat villagers. Plus, I like other smugs more than both Raymond and Marshal, haha
