Does everybody love Raymond?

I think it really depends on you because everyone has different preferences.

I actually like him, to me, I feel that he is sometimes awkward and rather reserved compared to Marshal (who is literally the cutie itself). Although Raymond is also a smug villager, he and Marshal does seem different. Maybe it is the hobbies, maybe the occasionally different dialogues or maybe what I catch them doing...but I feel Raymond is awkwardly cute and try to be nice with others while having difficulties to speak normally to them.

This is what I thought of him...maybe give more time to observe your Raymond?

I've never had Raymond on my island - he doesn't appeal to me - but I felt the way you do about him when I had Marshal...I just found him a bit bland compared to other villagers. Shep seems to have so much more personality than he did, somehow.

When I got him it didn't click right away either but after a little time I couldn't see myself without him. I just love how office-nerdy he looks and his little fangs (I gift him a vampire coat, I'm super original I know xD). It probably helped that with the campsite trick he was my only smug and I took my time before getting any other so I could get used to having him around. ^^

Reasons people like Raymond:

• His design is unique. Business cat with differently colored eyes. There’s not really other villagers that are gray and have a yippie look to them. His design is actually one of the most complex for a villager.
• The yuppie/business aesthetic that Raymond has is pretty cute and relatable to both the Japanese and Western fanbase.
• He’s a cat. Cat’s are cute and popular.
• He’s a smug personality. Lots of people like how he’s kind of sassy.
• He’s legitimately rare to spawn as a villager. People have him as a trophy. Popularity feeds into itself.

Here’s some big ones:

• A lot of fujoshis or people who like m/m also enjoy the idea of shipping him with Marshal, another smug character with a similar youthful, hipster aesthetic.
• Appeal to anime. Raymond’s design reminds weebs of their favorite anime characters, especially ones in Otome games. He sort of reminds me of Kyoya from Ouran High.
• A lot of people interpret his design is somewhat feminine. Take what you will of that, but Anime + Feminine Male + Cute + Grumpy/Sassy = Maid Dress.

Overall, it’s all because he’s cute. I mean why do people like Judy or Sherb or Bob? They’re cute and why pick less attractive versions of the same personality?

I'd say I'm neutral on him. I don't think he's super cute and I certainly wouldn't waste the NMT to buy him.

I got him on a random mystery island and decided to take him home. I mean I thought he was cute but his personality isn't my favorite. After a while I'm starting to see he's on of the villagers I'm kind of indifferent to. He asked to leave recently and I said no. I'd love to see if I can form some sort of bond with him before I let him go. Right now he's fine, just not my favorite!

I haven't gotten him yet, but I plan to. I want to have an all cat island with all the personality types. I wanted Raymond as my smug villager before I made plans to only have cat villagers. I liked him since he was first announced. His popularity made me not want him as much briefly, but I've decided I wanted him on my island. I think he's cool and I think I'll really love having him on my island when I do get him.

I think he's OK. He's pretty cute looking but I find many of the other cats overshadow him. I will say though his office house is one of the games best designed imo

I used to think Raymond was ugly when the game first came out. I found him on a mystery island in April, and traded him for Judy (who I eventually got rid of because her eyes are creepy imo). Then I did the campsite trick for him and held a giveaway here so someone who couldn't afford him could have him. I found him again on a mystery island at the end of May and decided to take him in, and now I won't ever let him leave my island. For me, I really like his formal style of dress, and I wear glasses irl so that aspect of his design also appeals to me. His little fangs are very cute, but the real reason I like him so much is because he's adorable while wearing the monocle. Just look at how precious he is with his grumpy face:

idc if he's super popular because I personally like him, and that's enough reason for me to keep him. It also helps that he's one of the 5 smugs in subtype B, so he has different dialogue than most other smugs when you reach high friendship levels. I still don't think he merits the massive amounts of hype though.

I also really dislike how it's cool to hate on him now. People say awful things about this pixelated cat and it's honestly just sad? If you don't like him, there's no reason to spread negativity. It's a bad look for anyone, but people still spew hate.

If NH came out like 3 years ago I would probably be silently laughing to myself about the fandom going to war over an accountant cat (smugs are not my favorite personality; same with cats in species). However, since my brother just started his career as an accountant, Raymond holds a certain amount of appeal to me. I’m not going crazy over him, but I still like him.

I think he is super cute, but Marshal will always have my heart ♥ A friend got him for me so I didnt pay outragous for him... I dont understand why the price tag on em though.

Sometimes a much desired villager doesn't live up to a person's expectations,especially after a lot of time,effort and resources were used in the pursuit of that villager(It's happened to me.).Raymond was my first camper so I got him relatively early in the game,before people really started going nuts over him.That gave me the opportunity to find out what he's about without a lot of outside influence.The smugs have become one of my favorite personalities since they were introduced for New Leaf and I'd say that Raymond is a very good smug villager.He's flaky in a good way and he's fun to have around.

I got Raymond totally by chance at my campsite and I invited him. His design is cool, but he didn't really connect with me. He now lives on a friend's island where he gets more love.

my smug dreamie has always been marshal (never had him before) and this is who i'll be trying to find next for sure but i wouldn't complain if i found raymond instead while island hopping or at my campsite. i really like his design, i think he looks very unique and i'm not surprised he's this popular! he deserves it!

I like him even more than I thought I would. I got him by surprise when someone here was trying to get rid of him ASAP, I had an open plot and I just went for it. Love his little teeth, and his easthetic, he suits his personality well
