Does anyone wish we could be friends with the NPCs (Tom Nook etc)?

Like we could send them gifts and messages, chat with them the same way we can with the regular villagers, give them new clothes and so on. Perhaps you could find them around your town or island after their shift ends and chat with them like any other villager, and they could even have houses of their own too. Though I guess as some NPCs, like Tom Nook and Isabelle, work 24/7, the developers would have to give them break times or something for you to interact with them outside of their jobs.

Even if they don’t make it as ‘large-scale’ as turning the NPCs into regular villagers that you can interact with, I think it’d still be nice if you can have a dialogue option of chatting with them about their day etc, when you look for them in the resident services centre/shop/museum.

I don't really care much about chatting with them beyond what is in-game.
I did like the New Leaf mechanic of Isabelle wearing different outfits during different occasions though.

Yes! In NL you could eventually get the pictures of some NPCs (Resetti and Don for example) and I'd really like them to come back!

I think it would be fun if more of the NPCs were like Sable where you could talk to them more and get them to warm up to you.
I personally would love interacting with Isabelle and Tom Nook in less business only ways!!!

Yes, in fact, what prompted this thought was when I was writing a letter to a villager. I thought that it’d be cool if we could send the NPCs letters too.
