Does anyone not put hours into searching for villagers?

I have put a lot of time into looking for villagers, not because I was hunting for a specific villager but because I I was looking for a personality type. There just aren't very many smugs or uchis!

i care about villager aspect of the game, i love meeting new characters! that said, the maximum tickets i've used per day is probably like 30. so i don't think i can do those villager hunting people do that takes more than 2 hours. i now have amiibos of my dreamies though.
this is totally me as well! i love the villager aspect, but i don't go hardcore mode and search for hours on end for one specific villager. I guess I play casually in a sense that I love the random-ness of the villagers you meet on tours, it made me adopt villagers that I didn't know I loved before (like Nan and Boris). I also set a limit of 30-40 NMT at a time because I do get tired too lol.

That being said I did eventually adopt villagers from other towns and used one NFC tag my friend gifted me to get Hopkins.

I feel like if I were to put several hours or even days into finding a specific villager they would only end up disappointing me. Just doesn't seem worth the effort when it's mostly just an appearance, the personality they get is not going to be unique anyway...

I care about my villagers a lot, I have got 6 of the 10 I like, the others ones will be hard to get as there are new

i love meeting new villagers like at this point ive grown really attached to 9 of my villagers so theyre not moving out anytime soon but i left my 10th spot free so that every month i can move in a random villager as a guest which has been fun like i started this last month and got maple and for july i have genji

I never care about searching for villagers. TBH I usually just use Amiibo, but sometimes I will just go to three NMT islands and I get what I get.

That's probably the best way to go about it :)
The only time I went out of my way to look for a villager was when Apple left. I needed a peppy villager to keep the 8 personalities on my island, so I went on three different islands and I found Agent S. I guess it wouldn't have mattered either way because Tangy was the last villager to move in.

The only villager I was super into getting was Whitney because she's my favorite and I needed her on my island. Now that I have her (thanks to a seller on this forum), villager hunting isn't high on my to-do list. I'd love to hunt for villagers one day to try it out, but for now I'm content on bonding with who I have and seeing who visits my camp :)

Trying to come up with creative ideas to decorate and construct my island are consuming all of my hours rn ;;

Only time I searched forever was Raymond lol.. 329 NMT (doubt I’ll ever get over that looool) but apart from that I just don’t really have the time - or patience. I’m gonna go island hopping for Judy at some point but I’m not rushing into that no way😂

Holy hell that's some dedication there. I don't know if I could stick through all that 😂

Only had to spend a few days on 2 specific villager hunts. Drago and Knox.

Everyone else has either been first to be found on the NMT or we just happened to come across them leisurely but definitely not for a long time.

I've never put too much time into searching for villagers, since I'm not too picky about who I get as a villager. I always just picked up the first villager I saw on the Nook Island tours when I needed to, lol

I have never searched for villagers, because I can amiibo them in, except for the newer villagers. I am not attached to the newer villagers very much to spend hours looking for them. I did like Raymond a little bit because he is a cute nerdy cat with different colored eyes :3 but I didn't really like him that much to really want him, and one of my friends gave me him anyway!! Still though, I like Marshall loads more than Raymond, so meh! :D So yes, I've never done this, and don't think I will! Except to maybe see what it is like, since it seems a bit fun!

Honestly now that I have the new characters like Judy, Dom, and Raymond I don’t think I’ll be spending that much time going villager hunting. I’ve been lucky enough in the past that within 20 or less nmts I’ll already be able to get someone I like! Anyway, since most characters have amiibos I don’t really worry anymore whether I’ll get them or not. I just don’t want to sink so many hours looking for a specific character again like what I did when searching for Judy (I spent maybe 3 hours island hopping for her and 80-90 nmts rip. still spent lower on her than what she was going for at the time so.. still a win I guess??) and Dom (Another 80+ NMT spent for him and it took me way longer to find him like maybe 6 hours!).

I haven’t spent too much time searching islands and the like for villagers, but that’s mainly because I decided it was easier to just Amiibo in the animals I want. I did do some searching for my three post-starter villagers (the first three houses you build), but with such a short window between when one animal moves out and the next one moves in, I don’t feel like I have very much time for proper villager hunting.

I’ve avoided trading for villagers entirely. I missed the initial duplication glitch wave, and I don’t have nearly enough NMT to get what I want. All of the villager trading glitches early on turned me off as well.

One consequence of the way the game is set up is that I seem to be rotating my villagers less than in past titles. So far, I’ve only let one villager move out (Chops, my first campsite addition). I actually still have one more house plot to put down because I can’t decide who should go there, and I would rather make up my mind, buy an appropriate Amiibo card, and move the animal in than get someone I don’t want and have to wait for said animal to leave. I am keeping my eye on the campsite, but with new campers only coming about once per week, and no islanders unless I already have a vacancy, I’m finding it really hard to reliably get villagers I want without Amiibo.

I spend a lot of time looking for villlagers when I island hop but not because I need certain villagers but because I like the experience of island hopping and seeing who I see. I actually bought a few amiibo cards and maybe someday I will use them, but for now the idea of using them bores me, even if it means getting a favorite villager. I’m actually disappointed if my island hopping ends too early. So I’ve spent a lot of hours searching but not for a specific end goal (of course I have villager preferences in the form of multiple lists, cause I like making lists), but just because I like the adventure of it.
