Does anyone not put hours into searching for villagers?

was very little into the villagers, only now working towards the portraits. I didnt even know i should always check when they were inside to find out if they were offering diys xD

The animal villagers are my favourite part of the game because I interact with them every day and I enjoy it so much. I'm also glad that there is a variety of ways to get new animals on to my island. That adds to the fun!

The most amount of time I've spent looking for an animal is 3 days. That was to get a hold of Raymond, using the campsite method. (I will never do it again. The method is soul-crunchingly tedious. 😭 )

The least amount of time spent, was when I looked for Dom in the New Neighbor Network forum. I adopted him very quickly because someone was looking to trade Dom and I already had an open plot. 😄

Most of my other islanders come from mystery island hopping. It usually takes 10-12 NMTs. I don't have a specific villager in mind when I use this method. I simply want one of a particular personality type because I always try to have at least one of each type on my island.

3days for raymond O.o

me too. but I think It's mainly because I have already gotten almost all those popular villagers(except Raymond, Audie, Judy, etc) in New Leaf, and I am kind of tired of them. So in New Horizons I am not too strict with my villagers as long as they're not "ugly", lol

I don’t. The only villager I’ve ever gone out of my way for is Willow and then I traded for her. I will travel to maybe three or four different islands when I’m looking for a new villager but that’s it. I don’t understand how people spend hours on end looking for a particular villager. I’m not patient enough for that.

3days for raymond o_O

😭 Raymond showed up as camper #72. I had seen every single smug villager come and go. By that point, I was convinced my game was irredeemably glitched or I had somehow missed Raymond and hadn't realized it. Even after the last smug had left the campsite, I still had to go through 9 different campers of different personalities before Raymond showed up. He was the absolute last. I was so exhausted.

I love finding awesome villagers! I love interacting with them and building friendships and good memories with them.

That being said, I haven't spent hours looking for villagers. I think it's both because I'm generally open to lots of different types of villagers and don't really have set dreamies and because I've been fortunate enough to have found nice villagers fast. For example, I found Raymond with 9 NMT and I wasn't looking for him at the time, but I liked him, so I kept him.

I feel you. In my case, I've used my other island and probably took me a day or two to find Raymond. I've been through 26 smug villagers and 16 other personalities before he finally graced my campsite as my 43rd. Yours took longer so I applaud you for your patience. Nevertheless, it was really exhausting especially during the times when you're excited to see who's the next smug only to find out that the villager inside is from another personality. In the end, it was well worth it though, knowing what you have accomplished.

Anyway, I moved him in and then transferred to my main island afterwards, then started campsite resetting again (using my other island) so I could look for Whitney. I've made sure to take out my snooty villager before anything else. So there, another journey has started. Then literally after 2 campers, Raymond appeared once more as my 3rd (I got snooty villagers for my first two). I was like "Lol, the game is trolling me. After what I've been through the other day, he would just randomly appear like that. I wasn't even looking for him". Well, there's that. I ended up finding Whitney on the mystery island using 155 tickets. On my way, Raymond appeared again at exactly my 43rd ticket (yes, on the 43rd again like how he appeared in my campsite initially, and that's creepy lol). So anyway, I moved him in and gave that to my daughter. The game really knows what or who you're looking for and it will make you work hard for them. I was really after Whitney, but that time, the game kept giving me Raymond.

I don't have any dreamy list. So I just kinda accepted who ever appeared in my campsite or met with at mystery island. There were a few, like 5 or 6 that I didn't take in but it didn't take long to find the one I like and personality I'm looking for.

I already spent nearly 16 hours using 392 Nook Miles tickets. I still didn't get Felicity or Judy. The experience is horrid and a waste of time in my opinion.

If you are an adventurous player who is looking to invite anyone, you will love it.

I went island hopping for specific villagers one time and that was it. It was way to aggravating and time consuming(also nmt consuming). After that I decided when I went island hopping it wouldn't be with the intention of I only want x,y, or z villager and that't it. If I happened to find one of those villagers great(I did once) but if I found a villager I liked I'd invite them regardless. Last time I went I was looking for specific personalities(snooty and sisterly to get reactions I'm missing) and that was a pain. I found no sisterlys and only 2 or 3 snootys and i didnt like them. Ended up getting a snooty from the forum. Still need a sisterly(im hoping the campsite will help me with this cause its the only personality i don't have). Once I'm done with reactions I'll likely want to look for the villagers I really want again but I think I'm better off trying to get them on the forum.

I have all my favs on amiibos so I'm chill xD
I'm kinda too lazy to invite them all tho

Whenever Isabelle tells me someone has left I usually go buy 2 nookmile tickets with the intention to go on an adventure.
Then after if I haven't found anyone I'm like nah haha the game can decide.
I do this every time haha like why bother to waste the nookmiles then :ROFLMAO:

i have never gone searching for villagers with NMT islands, the RNG of acnh is something i stay away from

always been using campsites or spending bells/nmt online

Looks at my collection of amiibo cards.

Huh? What were you saying?

In all seriousness though, I never cared that much about it. Seems like too much of a hassle. I invited the cast from NL on my island. I liked them all too much.

I definitely don’t go out my way to find a certain villager. If someone decides to move out, I kinda leave it up to chance who moves in. Or I might take it into my own hands & maybe make 2 trips max to a mystery island to see if any of those villagers are worth moving to my island. But I don’t see myself wasting so many NMTs or time to find a particular villager. In the end I would love to acquire all villager framed photos (on my own through max friendship lvls) regardless, so that would involve taking in all & every villager eventually. But that is obviously a far fetched, long long term goal.

Last time I had a free space I started to do this, then saw someone post that they were selling one of the villagers I was hunting for, so I just bought her. While I'm thrilled to get Marina... not gonna lie, I kind of missed the hunting! I personally really love going island hopping for villagers- I LOVE when a free space opens on my island because it means I can go hunting then, and I just find it both relaxing and exciting. But I can totally see where it wouldn't be fun for some people. I just love the "thrill of the hunt" and the hope of finding a really cool new neighbor...
...though, I admit, I have had times where I'm down to a few tickets and start feeling a sense of dread and just grab the next villager with the personality I want.

I think part of it, for me, is that I'm still more used to previous games- I've played every game but side games and PC, and this is THE FIRST time you really get a lot of say in who moves in (when you're playing by yourself) aside from the campsite in ACNL. And I just LOVE having the option!

Nope, I've come to really dislike island hopping, having to go through the dialogue and loading screens every time just makes it arduous. These days I either print like 5 tickets max and just take whoever/let the plot autofill, or make an amiibo of someone I fancy the look of as it's so easy to do.

I feel like I don't care enough about the villager aspect of the game enough to sink so much time into hunting down specific villagers

I get you on this. I used to care much more about villagers, and that's not to say I don't like the villagers and how some of them look. At this point though I don't even talk to them except to give them gifts. I've heard everything they have to say dozens of times over. I see them more as dynamic furniture pieces now and I feel less fussy.

I thought I was gonna have mostly permanent villagers but some are getting stale. I’m not really enjoying a certain smug horse that was a random campsite villager who I thought was a dreamie. I’m not even sure I want to look for villagers next time I have an open plot. I used 57 tickets last time.

I used to use Amiibo, but now I think I’ll stick to buying from people, especially if they aren’t very popular (aka: cheap)
