I give mine gifts that I feel will really suit them (look cute on them if it's clothes, or furniture that matches their interior). Although once, a villager told me to drop off a gift to Marina and it was a work jumpsuit in orange and now she wear it T_T. She looks like an escaped convict now
I don't mind changing their clothes but I dont like changing their houses unless the gift that I'm giving them suits their house. I also wasn't planning to change their catchphrase because I like it when they use their original ones but I changed the catchphrase of some of the the villagers I was planning to kick out thinking that other villagers will ask first before they can use it like with nicknames but that wasn't the case and now none of my villagers use their original catchphrase :/ I think I can complain to Isabelle tho and get her to get them to say their original catchphrase again. I'll experiment with this with the villagers I plan on kicking out after I get their pics because I'm worried complaining about them to Isabelle will lower my friendship with them.
I gift things for the walls such as the ivy planter and things that they can put on the outside of their doors like the welcome signs. Things that will enhance what they have but after the first frpes realized I don't want to give them bugs or fish. If they ask me to get them one I say no.
I'll give them small things that add to their houses but keep their original furniture intact. I might give them clothes and change their catchphrase if I can think of something fitting.
I give all of my villagers stuff! Mostly clothes, or fruits, if I can't find a piece of clothing that would suit them. I also change their catchphrases if they ask. I just love interacting with them and spoiling them hehe.
I rarely give them furnitures, but mostly because I feel less inspired to do so. I quite often gift them small items they can display on tables though, like a phone for Raymond's office, a painting set for Sherb, a pink digital clock for Flora, etc...
I gift my dreamy but i gave him one item and now it looks like he wearing a dress so I now try gift him other clothes to stop him wearing his dress lol
I've avoided giving them anything so far while I build up my catalog and get the residential area figured out, but I'll gift things that match eventually. Clothes that are previewed on Harv's island. Furniture that fits the interior - the cello would look super nice in Kidd's house!
I don't go out of my way to gift mine, but i'll give them anything they ask or if they want something at Nook's Cranny i'll buy it for them. I don't care if it messes up their interior, i feel like that gives them kind of unique from every other version of them on a different island :')
I avoid giving them household items except for wreathes, but I do love giving my favourites some cute clothes. I feel it gives them some more personality
i love gifting my villagers things especially my dreamies ♡
since they're staying on my island i just gift them everything and spoil them so much lol ^-^
of course i give them gifts, chosen for each of them and i'm so happy when they wear them and display them in their houses!! i feel like you'd be missing out if you just tried to keep them "original" :/
No, I just tend to give them whatever I feel is suitable for them, whether it's clothing or furniture that would match their house interior. However, the only aspect I do not change are their catchphrases. I don't know why I want to keep that original, I feel like I wouldn't come up with something else that's better.
I have no interest in selling my villagers off, and I know some people are adamant on wanting villagers to be "original", but if you don't engage with that it's not really much of a concern.
I used to try in New Leaf, but the clothes look so good this time around that I'm changing their outfits up on a regular basis now! Plus Stitches' house is really ugly as he was one of my original 5 villagers anyway as a random move-in so I don't really care about that -- and he is my biggest dreamie :' )
