Does anyone hate this?

I know not everyone celebrates Christmas but don't you think since it is the North America version of ACNL, don't you think it should say "Christmas Eve" instead of "Toy Day" that makes it sound like Christmas is all about toys which it's NOT. Anyone else agree?

N o .

Why is everyone hating? I mean you're obviously allowed to disagree, but do it in a mature way.

Who's hating? Everyone's stating their opinions calmly from what I can see. If there is any hostility, it's probably because people have gotten fed up with this argument coming back every single year.

i'm not seeing any hatred either. just people stating their opinions, which is what the OP asked for lol

I would accept either, but I get why it's called toy day because it is really only about giving the villagers items in the game.

To a small child, Toy Day aptly describes the holiday. Not everyone buys the nonsense of some ludicrous mythological deity.

You can call it nonsense all you want, but your response was a little too hateful.

EDIT: Nvm, I'm really tired & hungry and I think I misunderstood something so I'm scrapping this for now until I can get some clarity in the morning lmao

It's not just Christmas that's being renamed. Pretty much every holiday (with the exception of New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, April Fool's, and Halloween) gets renamed in Animal Crossing. You don't want it to sound like a real holiday, so they have to come up with something else. It's just like South Park's custom brands and media based after real brands and media to avoid copyright issues.

When I was writing my Idea Book for the next AC game, one of my holiday ideas was Skull Day, which was specifically based after Day of the Dead, but I called it "Skull Day" if they had to come up with a name for it rather than its real name.
