Does anyone else pay attention/intentionally move their villagers in a certain order for their map icons?

Ever since seeing the two columned map, I loved the idea of having best friend villagers/couples next to each other on the island map, as well as having their houses next to each other. Just wondering, does anyone else do this, and which villager pairs do you have? So far I only have Lucky and Punchy since they are both lazy and seem like little pranksters best buds.

If you mean having specific pairs of villagers as neighbours in a two column suburb, I do the exact same thing My pairings include:

- Kyle and Vivian (both wolves)
- Lolly and Molly (this was just hilarious... they both also have beachfront properties, because I felt like they’d enjoy it the most)
- Antonio and Phoebe (my two starters)
- Spork and Erik (my two lazy boys)

In the last case, Apollo will eventually replace Spork. This will put him and Erik in the only two cliff-side houses, which makes sense because they are the only two mountain animals on my island.

With my old island I also had the two column river and ended up deciding to pair off my villagers. I would pair them up based on convos I had read, seeing villagers in their houses and their personalities. I don’t like the neighbourhood design but I didn’t want the villagers by themselves so I just paired them up.

I have four mini neighborhoods on my island.

1. The first consists of me, Diva, and Judy. This one was kind of by accident and not really planned, but I like how it is and will not be changing it. This neighborhood is very natural as I refer to it as "where the locals live" (as opposed to my resort area). I knew I wanted Diva near me since she was my starter Uchi, and Judy replaced my lazy starter's plot.
2. Second I have Huck and Sly together on the beach. I mainly put them together because their houses matched on the outside (and kind of the inside) and decided they would be the fishermen of my island.
3. Third I have Ankha and Chester in an Egyptian Oasis together. I also placed Chester here based on his house exterior-the colors look really nice with the sand path and other decorations, even if Chester isn't "Egyptian" lol.
4. Lastly I have my "resort" area which consists of four villagers- Sylvana and Flora are next to each other then directly behind them on a cliff are Tom and Snake. I figured Sylvana and Flora would get along well, and I felt like Tom and Snake have a similar vibe so I put them together too.

I just arranged their houses near each other by groups of villagers that always seem to hang around each other and it ended up working out perfectly on my map!

I'm going to be honest and say all my villagers are placed at complete random. This is actually the first Animal Crossing I've tried to get specific villagers though.

I want to pair up Dobie/Gonzo (the retirement squad) and Lily/Poppy (the adorable neighborhood clean-up squad) but am usually looking at how well the exteriors match.

My only completed "mini neighborhood" has Blanche and Zucker. Complete opposites, but their houses look great together.
