Does anybody else miss Desert Island Escape from NL?

Was this something they added with the welcome amiibos? I played NL but went on hiatus shortly after welcome amiibos were introduced.

I did enjoy the game but if they brought it back I would really appreciate it being less dependent on amiibos. I don't have any amiibos which limited me to only being able to play with my villagers. If you aren't changing your villagers in your town you don't get to experience different characters abilities. And without different characters I think the re-playability goes way down.

I am also quite sure I have an extra Wii-U console on my New Leaf game so if anyone wants it you can DM me! :)

Yeah I can't remember the specifics, but if you played your Wii U console it had micro games called Desert Island Escape and Puzzle League. I think if you played your NES you got a couple vintage Nintendo games too.

I guess it was a bit of an Amiibo cash grab...when they rolled those cards out I was all over them, so DIE never got boring for me, I had a near complete amiibo set so the possibilities were massive for me.

Give it to @Dunquixote so they can try it out :)

Thanks for elaborating! :) I don’t have a wii-u, but thanks for suggesting me to try it out with @deanapants :). If it weren’t reliant on amiibos, I’d like to see it on the switch for ACNH since that does sound interesting. I have a lot of the amiibo cards but I agree that it is unfair to players who don’t have any :/. Or maybe give us a way to be able to somehow share our amiibo cards (without sending the physical card to others)/scan them for another player and there be a storage space where once scanned, they can use it themselves.

Correction, the Wii U had Desert Island Escape and the 3DS had Puzzle League.
The NES consoles from the original game (assuming that's the one you're talking about) only had 1 retro game each (whose boxart was visible at all times), but there were 20 of them available.

Well, it did come from an amiibo cash grab game after all (it was originally part of amiibo Festival on the Wii U). I'm glad that the 3DS port/version didn't force you to use amiibo to be able to play the minigame, seeing as they made it so you could just use your town's current villagers instead. It's a bit of a shame that they didn't port all of the other minigames though; some of them could have been good time wasters on the go.

To clarify it's not on the Wii-U as in the real life console, it's on the Wii-U console item in the game! It's a furniture item that you place in your house http://moridb.com/items/furniture/wii-u-console You just walk up to it and interact with the item to start the mini game!

Oh okay. Thanks for clarifying! :) I don’t have that in the game either; I stopped playing before the item was released. I’m a bit afraid to come back to the game since i don’t think I did the “trick” last time i came on, to ensure none of my villagers moved ><

Totally understandable, I 1000% do not miss the New Leaf random move outs.

See, Amiibo Festival gets a lot of hate, but I still enjoyed it as another Animal Crossing outlet. I thought using the cards to better your chances at rolling specific numbers was a bit stupid, but other than that I think I still got my moneys worth out of the game.

I never played this mini game, I assume you had to have amiibo cards for it? (which I dont have)

I hope with an update that they'll include different old items. I thought the 3DS and Wii games were super cute. I really hope they don't limit them to amiibos. That would really be terrible.

This has reminded me to pick up NL again and win the high score prizes I'm still missing 👀 I'd like to see them make a comeback in NH.

Not necessarily; your in-game villagers can be used in DIE. The other one doesn't need them at all, I think you could only use special NPCs for special boosts or power ups, but the game was easy enough without them.

I loved it! I played it until I got the highest achievement. The prizes were awesome too. Those treasure maps looked great in my front room, which had a nautical theme. And I just enjoyed the gameplay. I am really hoping they bring back mini games in an update and I would be very pleased to see some version of D.I.E. return.

Yes, it would be so awesome if they brought it back, maybe make the Nintendo Switch furniture item in game actually functional like the 3ds and Wii U furniture items were!

I miss it. It was a good way to kill some time and I had plenty of amiibos to use so it never got boring for me.

I kinda forgot about this, but yeah! It was a pretty fun game, even though I didn't get very far in it. I'd love to see games similar to this in NH!

ngl i do miss it sometimes >< i feel like i spent a lot of time on it trying to beat all the levels

Ahh I loved that game haha (less, but I also did enjoy the puzzle one)
It was my favourite thing to do in game when I ran out of daily tasks :)

No not really. I do miss the island mini games though. Especially playing with friends or online. I wish they would bring those back. The mini games in the switch though that they added in the update weren’t really that enjoyable after the first week.
