(Slightly old news but since no one else has posted this...)

THEY'RE GOING TO ANNOUNCE THE TWELFTH DOCTOR! IN A LIVE SHOW! TOMORROW!
*deep breath*
Tomorrow- 4th August 2013- They are going to announce who will be the next Doctor in a live, half hour show at 7:00pm (GMT) on BBC One for us in the UK! Don't worry American fans, you get the show live too on BBC America (Not sure what time that is, anyone can tell me?) Though I'm not use about fans from outside of the UK and USA...

So let's have a little speculation to pass the time!

Personally I hope Twelve will be played by a newcomer, much like Eleven was by Matt Smith. I don't mind if the new Doctor is male, female, black, white or whatever. As long as it isn't Tennant or Piper, I'll be happy. (I don't mind Tennant, I just don't like his fangirls, though I don't mind Piper her character, Rose, should have left when Nine regenerated.)

Flying, I think I read somewhere that aside from Animal Crossing, Dr. WHO is the only thing you love more? Hehe, sorry if I've confused you w/ someone else! (=

I haven't watched a single episode, but I know there's a huge following judging from all the positive Comic Con press. I suppose the 'best' seasons to start w/ are from the 2 most recent Doctors? Thanks!

Ehehehe, yes Doctor Who is one of my most favourite things ever!

I'd recommend starting from the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston), the 2005 season, it was designed to reintroduce Doctor Who back to the public after it was cancelled back in the late 80's! Most of the history gets explained and its easy to follow. You only get one series with Nine but it is a brilliant one :)

I personally would prefer if he remained white and a guy. Don't get me wrong, I'm not sexist or racist, but it would be kind of weird to change now, on his 12th regeneration.

I just hope it's not someone currently famous. The thing about the actors who played the Doctor in the revived series is that they've been relatively new people in the acting scene.

Hurrah, it's great to see other Whovians frequent this forum, as well! I'm extremely excited for the announcement, and I, too, hope for a ginger Doctor at last!

I really can?t wait untill tomorrow for this!
I kinda hope we get an ''old wise'' doctor whoever it is,
I WILL LOVE IT! :D

i loved ten, but i don't think they should bring him back. it would just be odd. i'm also not into the whole "the doctor turning female" thing.

I agree with you; it would be quite odd considering the character's last 11 selves were biologically male. Plus, I don't think Time Lords can regenerate into another sex.

True, though Romana 'trialled' three regeneration forms in the 4th Doctor serial Destiny of the Daleks, I think one of them wasn't human looking at all... So if the BBC wants to blow the 'Who budget they could have a really alien looking Doctor...

This. It would be hard to get used to. :/

Apparently my family is watching it - which means I'll be watching it, due to the fact that I spend all of my time at home in the lounge.

Thank you, Flying! I'll do just that! =)

I thought it was supposed to be the guy they showed at the end of the season finale. You know with the whole, "And Introducing ... as the Doctor" thing?

That said, I'm not as concerned with the actor as the director, as that can make or break the series. I heard Steven Moffat is still on staff, and I can't really stand the guy's narrative decisions. I was really crossing my fingers for Neil Gaiman coming on a bit more full-time.

I'm sorry, I'm the one person on earth that doesn't know what Doctor Who is. Rant at me. What is it about?

He's playing "a part of the doctor" and is part of a "trinity between him, 10, and 11".

On another note, it just makes me cringe when people are like "OMG TOM HIDDLESTON FOR 12. I want someone unknown or at least not on a worldwide spotlight. I did think it was funny though when Misha Collins posted that he would be sharing news about the UK and police boxes tomorrow on twitter.
I also don't understand how people could say that they should bring back Tennant. HOW COULD THEY BRING A DEAD PART OF HIM BACK AS THE NEW DOCTOR. Or when people say they should cast Billie Piper. She played a companion for Pete's sake! Not some random extra like Colin Baker did before he became the Doctor

A great way to learn about the series is to watch it, no kidding, since more recent series have been more complicated. Again Watch the first episode episode of the rebooted 2005 series, it neatly explains a few things and gives you a taster of what is to come.

Hopefully the above links will explain things to you and I hope, if you decide to watch an episode, that you become a fellow Whovian!

I have my own little imaginary AU where Hiddleston is the Doctor, I know it is highly unlikely that he would get to be the Doctor so I just created my AU so the little Hiddleston fangirl in me will be happy... I just saw Misha Collins' twitter post on Tumblr, maybe it's time for another imaginary Doctor for my AU :P

And, YES, we have the same opinion on Tennant and Piper Fangirls wanting them to come back permanently! It's been very hard to find another one of us (I got lots of hate on Tumblr for my opinion...) it's okay that they come back for a special, that can be explained in Universe quite easily, but when you start hearing Fangirls say 'The Doctor regenerates to look like Rose cuz he luvs her so much' no, that would just be creepy on the Doctor's part...

Thinking about it now I'm kind of hoping they bring in an older actor, go back to how it was in Classic 'Who with One, Two, Three and Four being older men (Tom Baker wasn't as old but he was older than two at of three modern Doctor actors.) This will probably ween out the 'fan's who are only in it for good looking actors... (Though the fanfiction would be as creepy as ever.)
