No, they think it's some sort of anti-religious thing, where they think it influences people to abandon religion and worship the devil. I'm dead serious. Like, I was watching Zatch Bell!, and my mom saw Zofis saying you will bow down before me or something, and holy crap, she flipped out.

They aren't. They feel the same way about manga. One time I was reading Naruto, and one of the panels had shadows of trees (to build up suspense I guess) and she saw me. She went: What is that!? That looks so scary! What kind of people write about demonic auras?

Then there was the time I was at One Manga, ans she got mad at me for reading again, so she said: Alright, what makes this manga so appealing anyway? Let me read too. So I left her read, and she thought that the drop-down bar where the manga lists are were the page titles. She picked Muhyo and Roji's Bureau of Supernatural Investigation, and saw it was about exorcising ghosts. Holy crap, I was banned on the computer for like, 2 weeks or something.
