Do you time travel? Pros and cons?

I TT a year forward sometimes to get rid of all the random dirt patches, or to speed up the growth of all my plants; I'll time travel a few months in advance. I always time travel after someone asks me to move and I tell them to stay because then I am guaranteed not to lose a villager. Also, I can time travel back to my current day without losing a villager as well. There are 0 repercussions to me time traveling because I have literally every single spot in my town covered with something, it's great.

that's actually brilliant. using the after ping period. ;o

i personally TT when i play a lot simply cause i get bored and impatient after doing everything u can possibly do in the day.
otherwise, when i barely have time to check in i just play by the day.

I've never done it and I don't really intend do. One of the things I love about AC is not really having much control as to what goes on. I love the factor of randomness in who moves out, who moves in, where they place their house, who visits, etc. It makes every day exciting to me when I wake up and wonder what could be going on in my town. Sometimes it pains me when I see a villager up I desperately want up for grabs here when one of my own might not be moving out for another day or two, but I just deal with it and hope someone just as cool will come to me naturally sometime soon.

If I ever were to TT it would probably just be to fix my grass but I don't really see myself ever doing that either.

I have to agree with iamnothyper and Jae in some ways. To some, TT is just used to get the 'stuff' which is of no interest to me.

I use it when I have not played in awhile, like last time was 06 Dec 2013 when I froze my game. Recently starting back up, I just started on the date and time I last played. Also, playing a lot, I go through 3-4 days in an hour or so, making sure all my villagers have seen me during the 'day', before going to the next.

I have gone ahead a few months, just to refresh my grass, saving/quit only, then going back when I last really played, also doing this only after a villager has pinged me.

Mahalo for reading.

I only play with peeps who play like you. :lemon:

Or freeze their time, like me. Mahalo.

I guess I've fallen to the dark side now since I had to "TT" recently - someone wanted to get a villager from me but this person only ever seemed to be on TBT at 2am my time, so when we finally made contact the villager was already gone and I had to move my game time back to a time when the house would be open for them to come in and adopt...

Bah!

Oh well, that's been the only time so far and I don't plan to make a habit of it. It just seems contrary to the spirit of the game imo. As BananaMan says, the randomness is a major part of the game and it seems a shame to lose that. I don't have dreamies or anything either, I just let people move in and out as they please, in the same vein.

I don't time travel. Sometimes I feel kind of tempted because it speeds things up. For example, I hate the time period before a villager moves out and I also don't like that a move-in takes so long. The same goes for deliveries from Pete. But the last time I time traveled was in the GameCube version and now I'm way too scared of screwing up, haha.

That's why I never even made the attempt to TT in New Leaf. I'm trying to enjoy the game the way it is. Sometimes I wish I could push the forward button, but I can live with that and maybe it's actually good for me that I don't even get the chance to let the force of habit move in. I didn't really enjoy it back then because after a while it made the game feel trivial to me. I'd be sad to see that happen again, so I just keep my hands off the clock. But I'd never blame people for TTing. =)

I used to be a time traveller, but I made a vow to myself that I would turn over a new lea(ha!) with this animal crossing game and not cheat. The only time travelling I've done is minor things that don't affect gameplay; for example, I woke up at 3am today and wanted to play, so I sped the cloxk up to noon so that I'd be able to do more stuff. I changed it back to present time once I was done playing. Sometimes when I have free time but the beetles aren't out yet I time travel forward to the evening to catch bugs on the island. I'm also usually too busy with holidays in real life to log on for the Animal Crossing equivalent, so sometimes I'll go back a day so that I don't miss out on the fun. But it depends on the holiday. I might just say "oh well!" and move on.

Time travelling isn't really of interest to me. The wait time adds realism to the game and I like that. I'm also totally fine with my town's little quirks, like the dirt patches. Any upgrades, orders, special visitors, special items, holidays, tournaments, villagers moving in and out, I can wait for those. I'm in no rush and I like taking my time with the game. I've also never experienced a "running out of things to do". There's always something to do! Even if you finish all the dailies and talk to every villager you can still do some landscaping, fishing, catch some bugs, do tours on the island, dream travel, visit people or have them visit you, etc. There's sooo much to do and I've never found myself without anything I can do next in the game. But I don't play all day long, just when I have some free time, so maybe that's why I'm never bored.

I have TT'd, but not a lot. I've only done it when I seriously ran out of things to do (like on a Sunday, started playing at 8 AM, just because I was awake, but around 12...).
I love fishing and bug hunting, but I had been doing that for the last hour at least, so by then I TT'd one day forward, just to get to do some more activities again. I would also love to visit other, but I don't have wifi atm since I'm on an internship abroad (and thus increasingly bored in the weekend, and ACNL is helping me through it XD).
Also I just started playing, so it is currently kinda an obsession for me and I play a loooooot.

I do set the time back when I'm done playing. I wouldn't TT just to get my villager to move in/out more quickly. I like the pace in which the game goes, so probably when I get back home I won't be playing all day long anymore and I won't ever TT anymore, hahahaha.

I used to a lot but not so much anymore. Sometimes I'll TT back a few hours if I come home too late and all the shops are closed. I TT'd to get all the upgrades when I first started because I was impatient... But I made a mistake and lost Stinky. I like playing in real time now, it's chill.

I TT when I've done everything I possibly can for the day, however I'm getting an upgrade for main street and the boat to the island tomorrow so it's really difficult to even focus with awesome things awaiting me.

I TT within short periods of time, like if somebody's buying something reorderable in Re-Tail, I'll order one and TT to 8:59 AM or 4:59 PM so I can get it for 'em ASAP. I'll jump forward or back a day if I've run out of things to do, too. The only large jump I made was to get some items from out of season that nobody was selling that I needed for my house, which has a very defined and planned-out theme. I used the method of waiting for a villager to ping and telling them to stay to make that jump, so I've suffered no consequences in terms of losing villagers or anything.

I had a no TT rule for myself for the first couple of months. I didn't start TT-ing until after I got Gracie. It was much more fun and exciting that way. But then TT-ing added a whole new dimension and changed the game for me. So I'm glad I did it that way, because I feel like it's 2 different game experiences. Neither is better, but it's nice to experience both.

TT my first time to get villagers to move out. (They were all over the place and I did not know of the plot reset trick) Eventually I thought it was easier to start over, now I TT a few days (except once were I accidentally TT to October) and back just to catch up to were I was. For now I think Im done TT!
