Do you think we will ever be able to rename our islands?

I don’t think so, but I honestly wish the would. My island was originally un-themed but I decided to redesign it and make it Italian themed! My island name (Suncove) doesn’t really fit so I really wish we could change it.

But I could see the feature being abused; what if someone was hosting a giveaway, where everyone was allowed one item or something like that. The host would be keeping track of in game names and island names. If you had a very common name, you could change your island name and your appearance and bam, you could get more things from the island

Well, they could have a feature where you pay bells or nmt or have a certain rating to change the name so people don't abuse it. I wish they had it. I wouldn't change mine but I know people would want to. I mean, these are two different games, but you could do it in Tomodachi Life but not Animal Crossing?
Then again, TL isn't a multiplayer game.

Probably not. The fact it would be such an easy thing to do shows they clearly don't want to. Of course that could change in the future, but I don't expect it to.

Probably not. I think they could do it in a way where it's less likely to be abused (by limiting how often you can change it, for example, or still listing the old name on your passport) but I don't think they'll do it.

I am happy with my island name but I remember being so annoyed with my New Leaf town name. I made it when I was 15/16 and the name was basic as but I didn't want to delete my town cause I had done so much I would of liked the option to change it back then for New Leaf

As nice as it would be for some people, I don't think it'll ever happen. Obviously it's never been allowed in previous entries in the series and, iirc, they do warn you that you can't change your island name later when you start the game, so it'd definitely be weird for Nintendo to do a 180 and go "okay well actually this new update allows you to change it".

I got bored of my island name too, but not bored enough to reset my island. Hopefully they will let us change it some day, like a limit of changing once every 3 months or so would be nice!

I think it would be a good addition to the game, but I also think it's one of the least likely add ins to a future update.

i always thought they would never, but it's not like the conversations would glitch if your island name is changed. it's programmed! IF and only if they'd let it, i can see them only letting us change once. and idk with nook miles? it's an interesting feature because now that we can design our islands, what if the initial name you chose the first time doesn't match what you turned it into....

Ugh please I took over my husband island and I hate what he named his. I never thought I would love the game so much so I never restarted... now I’m in too deep with a stupid island name :/

I don't think so, but it would be nice so that the people who don't like their island name anymore because they shifted themes or whatnot can have that option rather than completely resetting the whole island just because your island name doesn't fit your island theme anymore...

I mean it could since they have changed things from previous games but it seems unlikely because they have never made that an option before.

It should be though. Remaking your entire island just to rename it is insane. I'm no programmer but I can't imagine it would be that hard to program.
