The past 3 nights, I’ve driven in the same pretty wooded area late at night, and until now I haven’t really had a reason to be in that area at that time much. Each night there was some kind of wildlife that I had to stop for at least once, and luckily I was expecting them so I was going slow and stopped no problem, but it’s amazing cuz I feel like it’s rare enough for me to see wildlife while driving even tho this isn’t that far from where I live. I guess the time of night is the piece that was different. There’s been lots of deer, 2 opossums, and a fox (or a stray orange cat, it was running pretty fast). It can be pretty nerve wracking, cuz even if they’re not in the street it’s so hard to know if they’ll just decide to dart out in front of you.

Do you end up seeing much wildlife when you drive?

I usually only get to see squirrels, hawks and some other kinds of birds, but depending on what time of day I'm driving at and where, I sometimes get to see rabbits, skunks, raccoons, coyotes, groundhogs and possums! There're also deer in certain areas, but I haven't actually seen one in 6+ years.

The last "rare" critter I saw was a groundhog back in June! I actually saw 3, but I only got a picture of 1. They were so adorable!! 🥹

Not much unfortunately, there isn't much wildlife where i live

Nope just squirrels and birds really. If I go to the park close by there is ducks and swans but nothing out of the ordinary

Besides the birds and squirrels, not really. I have seen a few turtles, deer, and gators occasionally. Even a fox. Though it's not an everyday thing. Pretty sure I saw a turkey one time too, but after mentioning it to my family it seems it belongs to someone nearby so I'm not certain it's wild.

aside from birds and squirrels not really unfortunately. i always slow down or stop for one in the road if i see that they’re trying to cross. we have deer crossing signs but that’s more for people who are driving further out of the city and into the outskirts. i’ve never seen one while driving though!

There were a bunch of deer where I used to live. And also some wild turkeys (which I didn’t see driving, but one time I saw when I was jogging around).
Last week I saw a coyote crossing the street, I think someone told me there’s a little coyote family living in an abandoned yard across the street from my apartment complex. I live sort of near some mountains so there are reports in the news every now and then of bears that have gotten into families’ yards, but I’ve never seen one.
There are also a bunch of wild/escaped peacocks in the town next to me. Those darn things don’t care at all about traffic lol. But mostly I see them hanging out in yards, or sometimes flying from tree to tree.

Oh wow bears sound frightening! I think that’s the only one out of stuff people have mentioned that don’t live around me.

There’s a neighborhood near me with peacocks cuz someone had them as pets and then abandoned them and now they’ve had multiple generations and become feral. They sound so weird lol

I live so East of the city here that if I choose to drive the long way and go North/avoid highway, I would stumble upon farms with horses/pigs, etc. Although I don't actually see wildlife aside from squirrels, birds etc on the drive home.

Not really besides a random raccoon or a bunch of crows.

Not often! Mostly just birds and squirrels, as others have said. On rare occasions I have seen owls when driving at night, or groups of deer walking through open fields behind buildings.

There's a walking trail in my neighborhood, and I take my dog out several times a day, so I see most of the neighborhood wildlife at those times. We have opossums, bats, and foxes that only come out at night, as well as the extremely rare coyote just wandering down the path in the middle of suburbia. For a while there was a raccoon living in our neighbor's front yard tree.

And perhaps weirdest of all, there is a large group of vultures that lives in the woods behind our neighborhood that I see pretty regularly. They'll circle overhead if I stop walking for a while or if my dog lies on the ground, looking kind of hopeful. I always wave and tell them not yet. I actually like seeing them--I think they're really cool--but I did not expect to see vultures in my hometown! I've lived in this city since I was born and I've never seen a single vulture until moving to this house six years ago.

Usually I just see the usual animals like squirrels, birds, rabbits, and rarely, deer. But my mom said that she’s seen coyotes while driving apparently. Glad I wasn’t there because I would be terrified.

I see a lot of hawks, herons and storks. That's about it!

A lot of deer, bunnies, and raccoons live in my area. Sadly when I see them while driving, they usually have already been hit and are laying on the side of the road. I wish there were better precautions against wildlife wandering into traffic.

usually just various types of birds and squirrels. every so often we'll see rabbits, raccoons, or sometimes the odd coyote at night

Only deers sometimes but that's about it. There is not much around.

Since I live close to the woods you see the typical animals mostly. When I'm going to a hiking area there's always deer casually walking through the road.
