Do you prefer island hopping, campsite method, or trading?

I have all of my permanent villagers right now, but it's a tie between island hopping and trading. Island hopping is fun for a little bit, but it's stressful when you start running low on tickets lol. I definitely prefer to trade for the wanted villager if the villager isn't too expensive.

I've never tried the campsite method personally so I won't comment on that but it seems to be really effective based on what other people have said and I'd probably do that method now depending on who moved out.

I believe you can't have a campsite visitor on days you have already had a visitor, which is why a lot of people doing this jump a few years ahead so it doesn't affect anything.

This is not true anymore as I think this has also been fixed with the patch that increased the campsite spawn. I’ve done the campsite method but only stayed within a month of TT to not spoil seasons and I’ve went back and forth the same month period and gotten different campers. I’ve done this over and over until I landed my target dreamies.

I personally prefer island hopping. Yes it's tedious, but I like it because there's always the chance I'll run into my dreamies or even someone I didn't even know I wanted! I also don't TT so the campsite method is off-limits for me, and I mean trading is fine; I just prefer to get them myself

Despite alot ppl over pricing their villagers, I still rely on trading because I just don't feel like timetraveling or jumping island to island. Too much time consuming.

which patch? Do you remember the approximate date? Maybe I just don't realize when that much time passes then?? Lol

I don’t remember the exact date but it was one of the first patches and it’s also been talked about here a lot when it happened. That was around the time people started discovering the campsite method too, IIRC.

I dont TT so the campsite method is too long and boring so I would vote island hopping. My problem with island hopping is that you have a strict amount of time after you place that plot before a rando from the void takes it. Sometimes I dont have lots of time in a day to play but that method basically makes you play for that set time or else it will be filled. If there was or is a way around that it would be nice.

When I had to get three villagers to move onto my island, my brother went to different islands and collected Al, Apple, and Poppy. Then I had Marshal move in from the campsite. Boyd moved in on his own after I failed to find a specific villager on the islands you could visit from teh Dodo Airlines. Then my brother went to an island one day and Hopkins was there, so he moved in, and we had 8 villagers for a long time. We got Blanche from the campsite after I finally figured out where to put a new house. So it's been a bit of both.

I prefer trading or scanning in Amiibo cards. I just have no patience anymore lol.

Island hopping is my favourite part of the game! I usually have one personality type I'm looking for (though I can get lured astray) and then I go look for someone awesome. I think it helps that I'm not looking for a specific villager. And it means that when I trip across Raymond by accident when I'm not even looking for him it's so much more fun

Island hopping is tiring. But I do enjoy finally finding someone I want.
Still waiting to see Kiki on the horizon, one day! I haven’t tried the campsite method yet but I think I will give it a go.

Amiibo cards, campsite, trading and island hopping..... I've tried all 4 of these and now I can 100% say that my preferred method of acquiring villagers is island hopping.

With my Amiibo cards I have my favorites, sure, but island hopping has allowed me to get to know villagers I never even considered, not because I don't like them or anything but villagers I never really had a chance to see. For example, Ken, Gonzo, Plucky, Boots and Leopold.... My mind was just so focused on getting very specific villagers so I bought their cards but island hopping helped me broaden my tastes and be more open to letting new villagers into my heart ❤ now I'm finding myself steadily replacing my Amiibo-obtained villagers with ones I find while island hopping. Funny how life works

With island hopping I'm saying things like, "Huh, check out this little guy! He's actually kinda cute! Oh look at her! Awww I really like her! I never had a chicken villager...."

Also, to me it just feels so satisfying finding villagers myself on the mystery islands. It's like they're lost and lonely and then I show up to offer them a better life, a loving home ❤

I do like adopting villagers too because you're saving them from floating in the endless sea of black and despair that is called the void. I simply couldn't stand the thought of Dom being in the void so I just HAD to adopt the sweet little baby boy ❤❤❤

I know they're just pixels in a video game but I just love animals irl SO MUCH. I bond with my villagers so easily and I feel a genuine happiness whenever I look at them and talk to them. I smile and smiling is one of our most invaluable qualities as humans.

Trading all the way. I don't have patience or enough NMTs to do island hopping, and I don't TT so I'm not doing the campsite method either.

I love island hopping. Its costly and stuff but if you can afford to do it its a really nice time. I will often sell turnips on folks islands for premiums, then buy NMT in bulk and go island hopping as soon as I have an open plot. I have five of my dreamies and all but one were from island hopping. Plus I like to steal all the resources if the islands villager isnt someone I want, because I hoard any resource I can get (not to mention the DIYs, since I still only have a few that I want in my possession)

Currently Island hopping for my dreamies. I ran out of NMTs pretty quickly (only had like 40) and have been grinding since 2 days.
The plot has remained open, surprisingly enough so I cant stop myself from island hopping all day long, eventhough Id rather do something else...I just cant this opportunity go to waste!
Might try the campsite method in the future.

Island hopping. I hop until I find someone I like, rather than for specific villagers, so it isn't stressful or demanding.

Out of the 3 options, island hopping, simply because I have not tried the campsite method and trading for villagers will likely give me more anxiety. Going to try the campsite method on my 2nd switch soon to see how it compares to island hopping.

I've managed to get all my dreamies now so I won't be participating in any of these but I found island hopping to be the most fun (though quite frustrating at times as well )
