I make most of them, it's more convenient. They can count towards that daily Nook Miles crafting goal and I often play late at night when the shops aren't open.
The exception are shovels, I really like the printed ones and they last a fairly long time so it's not a big deal for me to buy them and then have a spare in my storage just in case.
These days, I mostly buy the shovel, net, fishing rod and slingshot. Sometimes I customize a tool to match my outfit. I leave an extra shovel by a neighbour's garden, an extra net at a picnic spot, an extra fishing rod on the beach and an extra slingshot on a stone table outside my house. This way, even if the store is closed at night, I'd still have a new tool to use.
I just buy them. The crafting tools bit lost its charm and if I need something quickly I'd rather just go to the store and buy it instead of digging stuff out my inventory
I'm trying to make my own until I hit that Nook Miles achievement, and I let them break for the same reason.. I miss not having them break, but I don't mind making them as much anymore honestly.
i’ve gotten into the habit of buying my tools (especially since they tend to be cuter aha) but if nook’s cranny is closed and a tool breaks + i don’t feel like time travelling back a bit, i’ll just craft them myself since lord knows i have enough materials for it LMAO
I just make my tools. It's a bit tedious but so is travelling to Nook's Cranny every few minutes. I upgrade all of them except for fishing rods, since I fish so much my iron stores would be destroyed.
I make tools primarily because I'm still working towards those ridiculous nook miles achievements for it. I do buy once in a while if I'm in a pinch though, and probably will never completely switch over to just buying all the time just because it may sometimes be more convenient to shake a nearby tree than to run to the store - I have DIY stations set up next to every villager's house and a couple other spots
I usually buy my tools because I'm lazy, but I do need to get that nook miles achievement done so maybe I should start crafting more... but my house is usually at the other end of the island from where I am whenever a tool breaks
When I was first started playing I would always make them but now I just buy them. Depending on the tool I'll buy up to 6 at a time if I am going around moving trees or plants for example. Cause I always buy the flimsy tools haha
Crafting. With all the branches I'm gathering looking for acorns and pinecones, I can easily make flimsy nets and fishing rods... and I still need to craft around 1900 more for the last DIY Tools achievement so I've got a bit of a way left to go.
But after I have that, I might very well just start buying things, I think at that point I'll let it depend on my nook miles+ goals.
I used to make them all the time but after a few months I just buy them now. I tend to keep 2 fishing rods at a time though so I can get a full inventory before I go back to Nooks Cranny
Depends my mood and task. If I'm replanting dozens of flowers and it's just easier to buy them. But for my normal hit-a- Rock daily routine I usually take a moment to make one if it breaks
