Do you like to keep your character with the same look for long periods of time, or do you change how they look relatively often? If you change, how often? If you have an established outfit, what does that look like?
Personally I like to keep my character looking very similar over time. Sometimes I will change it up for a short time but will always go back to my argyle knit shirt at some point. What I wear in-game is usually the same as how I am depicted in my avatar/signature art.
I'm guilty of keeping the same outfit for a looooong time before I decide I need a change. Currently in the celeste bow, kiki and lala dress, kiki and lala shoes, and white tights. It's simple and cute.
I used to keep a single outfit on all the time. If I remember correctly it was the butterfly tank dress, orange sandals, tortoise specs, and the tiara wig. It was my signature outfit in City Folk too. Nowadays I change pretty often. I'll probably be doing that too in the new game. If I do change often, it's once a day to keep things fresh.
When, I first started playing, I changed outfits every few weeks. I was still getting lots of new items and I didn't have a plan for how I wanted my character to look, so I was trying new things. Once I found a QR code for a blue kimono with cherry blossoms on it, I tried it out and that's been my outfit ever since. I pair it with white tights, kimono sandals, the moon hairpin and a paper parasol (although I change that out for a blue glow wand sometimes in the winter). You can see my final look in my avatar. I hung onto a few of my other favorite outfits just in case I ever feel like changing things up. And I hung the green emblem blazer up in my bedroom because that was part of the very first outfit I chose for my character, so it's nice to see it there every time I enter the room.
For my alt, I had a definite idea in mind for him when I created him, so I made sure to get him the appropriate clothes as soon as possible. He always wears the kung fu outfit with ninja sandals and the conical straw hat. The only change I make to his outfit is swapping out the short sleeves for long sleeves and vice versa when the seasons change.
I wear the same thing every day. Baseball pants, cleats, and a Cincinnati Reds shirt that I made myself. I've always been a tomboy in real life, so I guess my character is too.
I don't change my outfit too often. I'll only change it once I'm bored of it. Sometimes I'll try something new for a day or 2, but if I don't like it, I'll go back to a tried and true outfit. The outfit I'm wearing now (kappa costume set and tortoise specs) is one of my fave outfits just cuz it looks like a silly onesie. But the outfit I was wearing before was the butterfly dress, tortoise specs, shearling boots, and hair-bow wig. I had that outfit on for over 2 years (even though at least a year of that was because I was gone from the game lol). So I guess that should show how often I change outfit lol.
I was struggling to find a perfect outfit for my mayor to wear all the time. It wasn't until August of 2014 where I finally found the outfit I was looking for all along, so I kept it with me at all times and I will have that outfit on my mayor (If we will, which i'm sure we will) in AC Switch.
Also, If you really wanna know what he looks like, go ahead and look in my album in my profile.
I do have another outfit that's more white than black, but I only wear that outfit in the whole Fall.
I actually used to change the mayor of Canaan's outfit quite a bit. Then I discovered my favorite outfit of all time and I couldn't bring myself to change her out of it. Said outfit is the one that can be seen in all the fanart I've had commissioned of her. The mayor of Diamond is wearing the flower fairy outfit, but that's only because I'm too lazy to put together a better one.
-spring bloom dress with kimono sandals and my regular hairdo
-raglan tee with baseball pants, basketball shoes, and 1-up cap
-one of my QR code outfits that is denim shorts, a tan tee and a gold cardigan with thick glasses
- milk maid dress with cowboy boots, thick glasses and the star or moon hairpin
-trenchcoat with lace up boots (winter)
-spiderweb shirt, pleather pants and black veil
I fluctuate between all those depending on my mood of the day!
I usually switch it up a lot when I make a fresh character until I find 1-2 outfits that feel like “them” then I keep those few outfits as their main ones and don’t really stray from them.
I also change at least my mayors outfit out for the warm and cold seasons.
But yeah basically once I figure out what I want the characters vibe to be I don’t change it much afterwards
Lately I keep putting my characters in Splatoon outfits. The weird part is I don't even play Splatoon. But I do have it and the sequel because my brother plays.
I can wear the same outfit for a while at times, but I like changing clothes more often. Sometimes I get tired of seeing the same outfit all the time so change feels refreshing. Though there are some outfits I really like and don't feel like changing as often.
I'll usually keep wearing an outfit until I either find something new I want to wear, or the seasons change and my current outfit is too hot/cold. The floppy hat and tortoise specs are in a lot of my outfits, though.
In many of my previous towns, I'd design my outfit around whatever particular piece of clothing I liked best that day. Sometimes, the outfit would stay the same for weeks until Able Sisters got something else I liked. Whatever made me look and feel that my mayor was cute!
Now that I'm doing two towns with themes, however, I'm being really strict with what they wear. It is like each mayor and alt has a specific role they are playing in the town, so I want them to have a "uniform" for that. It would be nice to have one town that I could just not care about and do whatever with, but I think two towns is enough for me right now, especially since I'm working very hard on them, lol.
