Do you care about the personalities/species of your villagers?

  • Yes! No repeats unless I have to.

  • No, I just care about how they look/whether I like them or not.

  • I just don't care.

I voted yes but that's purely for my NH island. In NL I had 4 cats, 3 wolves, 2 deer and 1 squirrel (none were same personality AND same species but that was just coincidence if it happened I wouldn't have cared). So in NH maybe after a month of playing I decided I would limit myself to one animal per species only. It was mostly so I didn't have the exact same villagers again and to help me narrow down who I would get on my island cause I was having trouble deciding.

I say if you love them both what does it matter! I find I kinda invent further personalities/stories for my villagers in my subconscious lol. For instance, I have two smug Zell and Shep. Although they have the exact same dialogue I get different vibes from them. Zell gives me posh fancy smug vibes - I fenced off his home and gave him a garden with pool, lounge chair and private beach; gift him lots of formal stuff to wear. Shep gives me nature laidback smug vibes - his home is by a waterfall, no fence and I recently built a beekeeper area next to his house; he gets nice comfy clothes.

I try not to have a bunch of villagers with the personality because of repeat dialogue, and I also try not to have multiple villagers of the same species for variety

Not yet but I do want Walker and Lucky at some point... Walker was my fav of WW and some people theorize he is the 'living' version of Lucky. Dogs honestly have a lot of lazies

I have two cubs, but not the same personality.

Pekoe and Murphy are the greatest. Pekoe is adorbs while Murphy is the interesting Cranky while also making a great candidate for my forest area.

No villagers with the same species and personality, but we have three frogs and doubles of jock, lazy, peppy, and normal!

At the moment, no, but I wouldn't mind this to be honest. I pick my villagers based of how much I like them and if I end up at some point to get two villagers which are the same species and personality, I would just live with it.

I'm planning to have both Prince and Jeremiah, who are both lazy frogs, simply because they're both too cute and I can't choose one over the other!

I personally like to keep the personalities diverse so I have one of each and only a duplicate of 2 different personalities.

As for species of animal I like to have each one be of a different species for variety. I still like islands that have multiple of the same species though especially mono species islands. Those are neat.

Too many of the same personalities bugs me though as the dialogue can get repetitive.

I dont. I think it is something I would avoid. I had Skye in my campsite today and while she's adorable I already have Wolfgang and Whitney. A different personality wasn't enough to save her!

After a while, all dialogue becomes repetitive, even if you only have one of that personality type. I say keep you the villagers you like and don't worry about personality/species.

Sometimes people like to pair repeat species/personalities because it seems like they go together. Chrissy and Francine, Nan and Chevre, Cheri and Bluebear, etc.

I don't have any two of the same species AND personality. I have two cats- Katt and Raymond, previously I also had two squirrels (Agent S, Mint- who I still have). I can't imagine having not only two of the same species but also have them be the same personality. It would be so repetitive. It's hard enough with multiple of the same personality type! But that's just my experience!

Still, I will say though, if you are drawn to these specific characters for a reason- go for it! Besides, if they don't work out whats the worst thing that happens? You let them go when they ask down the road and look for another villager, right? If you like them I'm inclined to say who cares what anyone else thinks, if they make you happy, do it!! :)

I think you should be allowed to do exactly what makes YOU happy on YOUR island. Nothing is bad or wrong if it makes you happy, as long as it doesn't affect others negatively (like bringing dupes into the economy etc.)

That being said the only reason I voted for all different is because the repeated dialogue drives me nuts.

I don't have villagers of the same personality/species, but I do have three bear cubs (Judy, Stitches, and June) and two deer (Diana and Fauna). I used to have two each of the smug, snooty, normal, peppy, and lazy personalities until Raymond showed up in my campsite. Thus I had three smugs and one peppy instead. In the end, it comes down to design rather than personality or species.

I plan to have all squirrels by the time I finally finish my island/upload a dream, so the same species obviously isn't an issue.

But, I will have 3 normals by the end of it, (actually, I have 4 right now, oops. Not my fault normals are so good.) and luckily they all have different hobbies (Education, Nature, and Music) so it won't be a big issue.

I currently have three smug villagers, but I'll get rid of one later so I'll have two. I have two penguins with different personality (may remove one soon). I'm planning on getting Carmen and Dotty (both peppy and rabbits) soon.

Right now I have two jocks (Genji and Tybalt) and two pigs of different personalities, Agnes (Uchi) and Gala (normal). For a while there I also had two Uchi's and two Normals, Celia and Gala and Shari AND Agnes and no Snooty type on my island at all (for a while there I thought that snooties would just be super mean. they're actually really nice in this game, tho). I kicked Celia for Vivian after realizing that I wouldn't be able to get certain reactions without a snooty type.

Right now though I finally have all the reactions, so I could afford to get rid of, say, Agnes (who's now my only sisterly). But then I realized it sucks to have such repetitive dialog. I've decided that I do indeed care about personality types and if my only one of a certain type were to leave then I'd be scrambling to find a replacement of the same personality. But it is always a relief to me when a copy personality moves out and I can afford to be like "Ok time for a Nook miles hunt, and this time I can take whoever regardless of personality." (Hunts kinda suck when you're looking for a certain personality.... ugh)..

sorry for the long response lmao

On this game no. I'm the second player plus I get to pick the villagers on my 3ds game so I'm generally good with whatever my sister picks it's her switch. We might be having double wolves since it's forestry town. But on my NL I have two snooty Kangaroos Mathilda and Astrid and they hang out all the time. If Carrie were to ever appear I would take here in a heartbeat lol. I would then have three kangaroos tho Carrie is a normal personality.

I have Beau and Erik technically both deers but they are very obviously different. To be honest though it wouldn’t matter to me. If I like the design and the character I’d have them no matter what.
