Do you guys use time travel alot?

Yes I time travel a lot to upgrade the store faster and to move out villagers. Also, I usually play at night so I also change my time so the store will be open so I can sell bugs from island.

Not on my main town. It caused me into depression.

But I do on my other copy.

is the villager reset trick easy to do? how do you know if a villager is moving in? if you load in and see a plot of land wont it have already saved?

It's very time consuming to get the villagers what you want; I just do it because I don't use Bell Tree as a tool for obtaining villagers or items through buying/selling.

Basically, when I have 8 villagers, I time travel. It's pretty much just a process of

1) Time travel one day forward.
2) Create a new character
2) Check to see if there are any villagers plotted.
3a) If there is not a villager plotted, go through all the steps of getting a house on the new character and saving and then deleting the new character. Then TT forward another day.
3b) If there is a villager plotted but it's not what I'm looking for, simply press home and exit out of the game without saving on the new character.
4) Repeat the process of making a new character, saving when no villagers are plotted, and TTing one day until there is either a very highly likely chance or 100% chance of a villager plotting. Day by day, I believe the % chance of a villager being likely to plot goes up when you do this. It's noticeable after you do it for a while. Once you have pretty much a 100% chance of a villager plotting on one day, you won't need to TT forward anymore. You just create a new character and quit without saving each time that a villager you don't want is plotted (or actually do save if the one you want is there). This method works because plots are set in stone if you load up your mayor, but new characters the villager will change each time since the game doesn't auto-save once you make a new character.

I hope this makes sense. I'm not very good at making guides. Honestly, though, this process is very tedious, despite being how I got all of my dream villagers for my main town. I wouldn't say I'd recommend it, I'm just hard-headed and refuse to do any kind of Bell Tree trading. I'm in the minority on that subject, so I would definitely recommend just going the Bell Tree route. It's so much easier to just buy a villager off of someone on here! :)

Main town doesn't time travel. Started it one day ahead and 4 hours behind real time when I made the town.
I do change the clock behind if I'm late playing or ahead when I want to celebrate New Year's Eve.

Some towns play day to day in a different season.
My spare towns that I made casual towns do time travel. I time travel to plot reset villagers into spots and to catch the winter/summer only in town bugs. Right now I'm trying to get to June for bugs caught only in your town. I usually play 2 to 3 days in one night.

Started in June 2013 and have experiences all the holidays a lot and collected everything. Playing 15 towns on the same day would be too much.

I barely time travel. I remember when I went back and forth one year just to get a fishing rod. XD Fortunately, my town was only a few days old at the time so there weren't any drastic changes.

Huh? I've never heard that the percent of a villager plotting goes up every time you TT.... care to explain?

Call me The Doctor because as of now, time means absolutely nothing to Callisto |D I?m in the middle of trying to breed a lot of hybrid flowers and general town landscaping, but my actual play opportunity can be sporadic, so I cycle through about the first week of December to build up what I need, since I want my public dream town to be while there?s lights on the trees |D

pray for my poor Groundhog Day looped villagers, I feel so bad but I need those pansies and tulips dangit

I used to. all. the. time. But I felt like a cheater xD so I stopped, and haven't done it in a year-ish. Idk I feel better when I don't, even tho tt-ing is not a big deal and no reason for me to get upset about.

I have two towns. On my second town, that's all I use it for, so I can get items ready for people and get villagers ready to be in boxes for others. When I didn't have two, I did once use time travel because I missed my chance getting certain items for the thanksgiving event in the game and I came back to my original date and found out one of my main dreamies had left and boy did I cry XD
That's why I'm careful when time travelling and when I don't time travel make sure it's early in the day that I stop playing so when I come back, it's still the same day.

I started my new town set to 6 months ahead of the actual date, so I try to time travel forward st a decent pace - at least a few extra days per week. That said, while I never go backwards in terms of days, I regularly adjust the time within the same day backwards, as I go to bed quite late and even the Night Owl ordinance isn't enough to keep the shops open as late as I need them.

The method I use is different, but I can see what they mean by the percentage thing.

Once you have 8 animals, you go into the entering period. It usually takes 2-4 days for an animal to move in, whether you invited them from another town, got them from your campsite or its just a random animal. This doesn't apply to animals moved in with amiibo cause they move in pretttty quickly.

On day 2, there is a medium chance of an animal plotting their house down. On day 3, there is a much more inclined chance for an animal to plot. Day 4 should be a 100% plot time, every time you try to reset plot. I haven't experienced a 100% day 4 yet, but I have experienced a day 2 and 3 plotting.

Basically the longer it takes for an animal to plot, the higher your chances of an animal plotting. Hope that helps!

Huh, I've never actually time traveled. Although I've only been playing since around August I think. But I do sometimes set the time back a bit, as I work shifts so when I come home late at night or something, I'd change the time so I don't miss out on everything. At the moment it's set up around 4 hours behind my real time.

Oh, wow! Thank you so much for explaining~!

Yes, I do it a lot, to rush through expansions, PWP construction, PWP demolition, and ordering. I also do this to construct a dream town so I can have a Dream Town as quick as possible.

i time travel to plot reset or to set the time back a few hours in the day. it bums me out to see that everything in my town is closing for the night when i finally get home after work. so i push back the hours to enjoy some daytime with my villagers.

I used to time travel to get through the 16 villager cycle faster. I accidentally lost Freya one day so I was TTing to get her back. It worked out well too because I was plot resetting the random move ins at the same time and I got one of my dreamies, Ankha, to move in. Once I got all the villagers I wanted I stopped TTing because I didn't see much point in it and I didn't want to risk losing anyone.

I time travel a lot on my 1st town, for things like speeding up house upgrades and moving villagers in and out. I keep it very minimal on my 2nd town though, as I prefer to have things happen naturally in that town.

I tt very often; usually to get villagers to move out / in but mostly out. I'm currently trying to move out Canberra but she's so stubborn ;-;

I used to time travel a lot in my game, but now I don't like doing it anymore. Kinda takes away the real Animal Crossing experience in my opinion. Though trying to break the habit of doing it can be really hard sometimes. :(
