I've always had multiples, for as far back as I could remember. I loved being able to do different things with them. I didn't mind shelling out the money for extra games ever. Now that I can't, I'm kind of feeling it and was wondering if anyone else feels the same D: I'm even tempted to go restart one of my old ACNL games or buy a new ACNL game to start a whole new town all over again, though I doubt it'd be the same as starting a whole new ACNH game XD I def can't afford multiple switches, so that's a no right there (esp right now while the price is so ridiculously high x.x)

Anyone else craving that second town?

I sometimes wonder why Nintendo doesn't allow for it. Is it just because of the save feature with cartridges?

imo they don't allow it because having the save data on the switch makes it much harder to hack into the game, which we all know nintendo is against (me personally i hacked my acnl a lot and i miss it) i'm a completionist though so for me one town is more than enough

Yeah, I sometimes get ideas for places or island locations I want to try and make, but I don't want to sacrifice or get rid of part of my current island to make room for it. Also I'd like to be able to get some new villagers without gettid rid of my current ones. A second island available as an upgrade or something far into the game, maybe connected with a big bridge would be perfect.

I won't lie -- I hacked ONE of my ACNL towns once, but it was one I never went online with/never used other than my own amusement. People are still hacking though, so it almost seems like the save feature was pointless. >.<

I don't, but only because I don't think I have enough creativity to fill up another island much differently than the one I have right now.
Yeah! I admit there's a lot of Island to really get creative with. I just tended to make completely different towns. I had one town I tried to make a "goth" type of theme with, and another that was more whimsical, etc. I just loved having multiples, filling them with different villagers, etc.

Yessssssssssss. This! I'd love that q.q

it would be nice to have something to decorate in another style, but tbh i would rly be overwhelmed. i love island decorating and collecting, so having to do that all over again from the beginning for a 4th time will kill me. i always forget how much work it is to terraform and completely redo your island until i unlock it again and i get rid of my river.

in acnl u kinda just bred flowers, paid for things, and laid down some paths to decorate ur island. i guess most of the difficultly came in plot resetting, but even then ppl made things work without rly doing that. in acnh u have to terraform ur island, crafting & collect furniture, move buildings, pay for (quite expensive) things, and imo just takes a lot of creativity to pull off. not that acnl towns were any less creative, but the fact that island decorating is so different now, it requires creativity that is much more challenging for me to find in myself.

i would have liked for every profile on ur switch to be able to have their own save simply because i know people other than myself would find that incredibly useful. even thinking about why its not a thing just makes no sense to me. i feel like to some people, the ability to have more than one island with a single cartridge would probably be worth the price and then some. (as an aside, it's rly interesting to see how having access to only one save/island kinda changed how ppl use social media sites to show off their towns. instead of having multiple towns to take screenshots in and post, everyone's just posting about the same town & in a way its more personal ig).

See, I really don't understand why Nintendo didn't allow this when they do for other games. Was there a reason? =/

A second NH island? heck no. I've put enough soul into the one I have now and I plan to keep putting more soul into it lol. Also the price of a second switch and copy of the game will never, ever, be a justifiable purchase for me.

However, after months (even before NH came out) of just wanting a copy of WW again, I finally bought one off Ebay yesterday. (I had been trying to play it using an emulator on my laptop, but my conscience prefers to do it the legal way lol.) I think I just want to play WW again because of how much AC has changed over the years, and WW is not only a simpler existence but the focus of the game is different - 90% of the charm is just chillin with the villagers. Both games are good at what they specialize in imo, so I could have WW to just chill with my 2DS and not worry so much about aesthetic, while NH demands my true effort in designing.

Yes. I have so many ideas that doesn't work well with my current island layout. I like the towns that are well decorated but the downside is that it makes it no playable when you are trying to chase down a bug or shoot down a ballon

Honestly, I have two islands and it was a dumb idea. I thought that since I’d have all the time in the world due to quarantine that I’d want two islands. I haven’t touched the second one in 3 weeks and I still haven’t unlocked terraforming or anything cool in it. Im just not motivated to do all the grinding in a second game. I’m going to sell the switch lite and second copy of acnh I bought when I feel comfortable selling things online locally.

I lost my copy of WW 😭 I haven't played it in AGES. Kind of curious to know what happened to my villagers, lol. I do have my NL copy though. I just have to man up and buy myself a new charger (just everything on Amazon is kind of confusing with the reviews lately e_e)

I do agree though, I REALLY miss the old type of charm the villagers have and I'm crossing my fingers in hopes of them adding personalities back in future updates.

no. if anything i want to play acnl again. trying to buy a new 3ds so i can play my old towns, i still have them.
Are new 3ds' hard to find now with the pandemic? =( Did they shoot up in price too?

Kind of wish you could play the 3ds games on the switch but I totally get why you can't.

Yesss! I love my town now and I don't want to tear it down but I'm just ITCHING to design a whole new theme! =(

I'm VERY very all over the place sometimes and I think maybe that's why stuff like this is good for me. I do 32721837128461273 things at once >.< Or I start to feel panicky.

Yeah. There are more villagers I want and it'd be nice to play with my sister more often since the co-op mode is kinda bland. Plus sometimes I want to terraform everything flat and start over, but having another island would allow me to experiment more with new ideas.

I would definitely buy another copy if everything saved to the cartridge like NL, but I can't justify buying another switch right now with how much they are and how hard they are to find and I'd rather save them for people who don't have one (scalpers stink).

they are omg.. i just made a thread on the new leaf sub forum about this. basically from where i am, new 3ds xl goes the same price as switch lite in select stores. insane.

I agree. I'd happily buy more games (as it is I'm going to possibly have to buy another switch because my mother is starting to get interested in playing -- she LOVED playing in City Folk and I kind of feel robbed lol)

Holy moly. I had no idea. Have you looked into the 2dsxl? I had bought one when they first came out and honestly love it WAY more than my 3ds

right? i might as well buy another switch if that was the case LOL. i hate that i'm impulsive because i really want to buy ANY 3ds/2ds at this point. i miss the game and my old towns. i'm looking into buying used ones locally. passing up on online buying for the meantime, waiting for shipments been ruining my life the past few months.

the thing that i loved about acnl is that the town was saved to the cartridge so you can have multiple towns. i have 1 main town, and another town where i can do anything. time travel, cycle villagers, be more experimental, you name it. and since new horizons is new, i wanna take things slow. imagine the big difference it would make if we could have another island.

I feel like you should probably avoid regular 2ds' though -- dunno if you ever played on them but I can barely see that screen. Then again, I have terrible eye sight :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, I loved the save to the cartridge on NL too. I've been really missing my NL towns, to be honest but I think it's because I'm pretty ADD and I NEED multiples or I burn out fast.

With one of my old NL towns (which I really wish I could do with NH) is I have one town where, while I DO tend to it/decorate it, I otherwise let things flow naturally. I let villagers move out when they want, etc. I don't stop them.

I wouldn't DREAM of doing that in my NH game with ones I love, so I kind of miss having the "spontaneous" town I always had as well in addition to it.

oh thanks for telling me though, i didn't know that. i should avoid as well. i feel like after playing ac from the switch, i'd prefer just playing from the XL.

YES. you said it the way i was thinking. i miss having the spontaneous town. i wouldn't DARE do it on acnh especially since it's so new. on my other acnl town i don't even feel bad even when a dreamie leaves, because it's just what it is and i like that. sometimes because i am a little bit (tbh a little bit is a lie) controlling, so it was nice having a new leaf town where things flow naturally.

I don't crave a second island, I just wish we could truly change everything. Sometimes I just like different things more.

This. And I don’t know if it’s just me but honestly, re-terraforming your whole island seems to be more time consuming than resetting and starting from scratch. Of course, I don’t want to restart but when I think about taking down things and plan a redesign, something in me just knows it’ll be less fussy to just start over. I just never act on it.
