Now that Spooky Month comes to an end, the festive holiday spirit is soon going to follow us everywhere we go whether we celebrate them or not (where I live stores put out Christmas decorations in like early October lol). I love Christmas a ton, and it's probably going to be my favorite holiday no matter how old I get.

Despite this, I know a lot of people who dislike the holidays a ton, and they have valid reasons to not enjoy them of course, so I would like to ask, do you enjoy the holidays?

(This thread is not meant to instigate a flame war about religion in any way, please be kind to others in the replies no matter what they believe in or holiday they like to celebrate. You are not better than others for not believing in or believing in a specific religion, you are just an average person like the rest of us. Please be respectful and civil to each other in the replies no matter what.
If I were to add, you don't have to be religious to celebrate holidays like Christmas, my immediate family isn't religious in any way and they never raised us in a religious household, but we still celebrate Christmas with each other every year and we still have a ton of fun with it even without anything related to Christianity.)

I enjoy the holidays. I spend Christmas with my in-laws. I'm cooking the turkey this year. :D

I love the vibes around holidays. It's a great time for get togethers with friends and I enjoy when the city is decorated and the market stalls are up. I also enjoy the excuse to bake gingerbread cookies for friends, work, and family. Last year my FIL cornered me for the recipe Christmas morning. 😂

I also love hosting TBTs big holiday event. It is a great time to be on the forum. 😊

i enjoy certain aspects! i love the ambiance, decorations, films, baking, and an excuse to drink hot cocoa. the actual christmas holiday doesn't mean anything to me, though, because i am not religious and i do not enjoy spending time with my family.

I love it so much! It’s my favorite time of year for sure and it’s the one of the only reasons I don’t completely despise winter! Everything is so great, the vibes, not going to school, the way snow looks, especially at night, hot chocolate, the movies, Christmas, people being nice to each other… I’ll just stop there but you can probably tell that I love the holidays lol 😂

The only thing about it I don’t like is this song (and most licensed Christmas songs not because they’re bad, but because they’re sooooo overused) and I also think it’s ridiculous how early stores get ready for it but it’s not that big of a deal, it’s just really funny.

Campaigning to get the song "I'm Gonna Kill Santa Claus" by Danny Gonzalez to replace "All I Want For Christmas is You" when it comes to overused Christmas songs in stores.

I'm not really a fan of the holidays anymore. I used to be, but I'm too old for Halloween really and Christmas hasn't been the same since my mom passed. Thanksgiving as well.

I'm quite fond of the Christmas season and the 6 days following it including New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

I enjoy picking out gifts that I think people will like. Though it's a bit time consuming, I like to bake Christmas cookies for loved ones and I tend to listen to Christmas music while I do so. I enjoy decorating and admiring the Christmas tree and I especially love how the Christmas tree lights illuminate a dark room. Though I've never been someone to have an Advent Calendar in real life, I look forward to the TBT Advent Calendar every year and seeing what new Candy Cane we'll get. I also like watching Christmas movies, enjoying a few of the cookies I made and having some eggnog. I never really get enough sleep on Christmas Eve, but hey, it's still fun!

The days following Christmas have this nice, relaxing, homey vibe to them for me and New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are pleasant.

It's one of my favorite times of year; October and Halloween, and just Autumn in general, are my absolute favorite and there's also a nice stretch of November when the leaves have all fallen, there's a chill in the air, the skies are grey and it's just neat. My birthday is also in late November, so that helps. I'd say the ranking is Halloween/Autumn > Christmas Season & New Year's > late November in terms of my favorite times of year.

Yesss! As you can see by my current lineup and pfp! I love Christmas time very much! As soon as Halloween ends Christmas really picks up where I live. Actually, Christmas picks up around September where I live so its a very popular time of year. I personally love it a lot too because of the good food and that I really like the decorations and overall theme. It doesn't snow where I live but I get to experience that with Animal Crossing.

despite being a halloween girl through & through (if that wasn't obvious), i love christmas lol. i'm an atheist but even when i was a kid being raised catholic, it was never really a religious day for me/my family, it was more about spending time with loved ones, giving gifts, just being happy tbh and that's what it remains to be for me.

my only issue with the holiday season is that it creeps up on me so fast and i make minimum wage so trying to save up cash to buy gifts is a nightmare lmao. but i looooove to give gifts, so i make it work.

I love it! I love the time of the year in part because it's the furthest away from being in either Spring or Summer (seasons which make me miserable). In addition, I love the decor! I love going all out on decor. Sadly I won't be able to do that this year due to having just moved and space and stuff like that... but hey, there's a better chance of a white Christmas up where I moved? Maybe? Nah, probably not going to happen anyway, but a girl can dream. lol

I wouldn't say it feels the same way as it did when I was a child, but yes, I still enjoy the holidays quite a bit. I love this time of year when it cools off outside, the days get shorter, and the nights get longer. In fact, DST ends tonight, which I prefer standard time over daylight saving time. I like the earlier sunsets. It's how it should be. Daylight savings time is a dumpster fire, but I digress.

November is one of my favorite months, actually - due to all of the great events and bittersweetness that goes on. I am having kind of a stressful start to my November this year due to - let's just say some family-related things (on the bright side though, there has been lots of yummy candy and food), but I know most of it will be full of promise. 💕 💖

Thanksgiving is nice because of the delicious Thanksgiving food, which I eat ham, stuffing, and rolls. My dad also does turkey along with some other sides, but I do not like them. My paternal grandparents also come over, which I worry about due to their forceful religious tendencies, but it can still be a nice time. 💖

And I also love December and Christmas. I love getting some money to spend and I love the beautiful decorations, lights, etc. Not to mention, the annual Christmas gathering at my paternal grandparents house. Last year's was a bit rocky due to a misunderstanding between me and my dad (rather not delve into it), but I am hoping he doesn't bring it up again and he and I can learn from it. But yeah other than that, I love the annual Christmas gatherings over there. We also did few at my uncle's (on my dad's side) in 2019 (which my dad, my brother, and I were living there that year), 2020, and 2021, but he unfortunately passed away in July 2022, so 2021 was the last year for the uncle ones. ;-;

We were also going to go to Houston and also see my maternal grandparents (and also pick my mom up to go see them) around Christmas time, but my dad is now planning that for next year in June. I would have preferred to do this during the Winter (I prefer the earlier nights and cooler temperatures), but I am still looking forward to it. I have said on here many times that I have always loved visiting my maternal grandparents over in Houston due to all of the amazing memories I've made over the years. 💖

I used to love Christmas, but after certain developments in life, it's not really the same. Last year, my mom's boyfriend came over for the entire day, which I had not been informed of. I had to get that information out of my little brother on Christmas morning while my mom was in the shower so she couldn't hear me and give me crap for it.

My whole family is Christian except for me, which makes Christmas dinners hard. My mom tries to keep religion out of it as much as possible, but my dad's side of the family doesn't. I have to recite my own prayers to my gods in my head because I have no way to do so around my family.

Celebrations with my friends are always the best. We do Secret Santa and get each other the silliest stuff. Last year, one of my friends wrapped his Secret Santa present in duct tape and it took all six of us all of our lunch period to unwrap. We also have New Year's celebrations where we play Cards Against Humanity for five hours and annoy the parents of whichever friend is hosting. Those days are always my favourite out of the year.

oh i'm gonna pop off a little 'cause i hate christmas for several reasons

for one i just hate anything to do with winter - it's cold, i get cold VERY easily (especially my extremities due to bad circulation), i hate snow, i hate bundling up. that's kinda self-explanatory

second i've worked retail for so long, this is also kinda self-explanatory. it gets so busy around the holidays and we are not paid enough nor do we get enough breaks to deal with it. like seriously guys please do your shopping ahead of time! this goes ESPECIALLY for men, sorry but it's always men buying presents for the women in your life who you supposedly love on the 23rd and 24th! and then half the time they won't even know what she likes and expect us retail workers to be able to help! please do better!

customers are also just way more rude, and way dumber. i swear if i hear "i can't believe you guys are open today on christmas eve! why don't you get a day off!" my brother in christ you are the one HERE on christmas eve, YOU are why we don't get the day off! if you feel bad for us then stay home! also don't be mad we're sold out of items a week before christmas, i am paid to make things sell out, be serious.

i could prob go on about retail forever but the main reason is my family is so drama filled i hate it, too many people pretending to want to be around each other and then talking **** once everyone leaves, it's exhausting. my brother and i were talking about something similar the other day, how our parents' generation and older are way too obsessed with their self-image that they're scared to cut anyone toxic out of their lives out of fear of "looking bad", meanwhile we'd just be like snip snip goodbye ✂️

I really don't. Holidays are just like any other day for me. They aren't special and are just an excuse for stores to get happy with the price gun. There's no reason for a pack of sugar cookies to be double the price of a regular batch just because it has pictures of reindeer on it?? Make it make sense.

Exactly!

I am a huge fan of the holidays! I really love the atmosphere of the holidays. Halloween has that spooky feel, and is when the weather starts to cool down and you get those cool foggy mornings and you can go to those fun scary activities with friends or family. The theme parks are all decorated for it. I do enjoy Thanksgiving but I do find that it's not a big deal in general because its the inbetween holiday from Halloween to Christmas/winter time holidays. Christmas is one of my favorite holidays, I love all the decorations and I do enjoy buying presents for my friends and my mom. I also love the food and specialty drinks at coffee places during this season as well.

It’s 50/50 for me. I love the anticipation of the holidays, I love the feeling in the air- I hate the traffic, the rude people that come out of the woodworks around this time of year, and the family aspect can be difficult as well. The lights are pretty and it can be a very joyous thing though! (But Halloween ftw) (I also have to cook a turkey for the first time this year though so…wish me luck!)

I like the aesthetic and vibe of the holidays (e.g. decorations, holiday drinks at Starbucks, etc.) but the actual holidays themselves are boring at best. I don't enjoy the extended family get-together and I usually go stir-crazy from things being so quiet at work.

No. It reminds me of just asking my parents not to argue for the day (they always did) and I never had a proper family / group to be part of for it.
