I just complete the story. It’s what hooks me into the game, after all. Completing it at 100% feels pointless for me unless it’s a game I enjoy a lot, like ACNH and Pokémon Scarlet for example.
I’m more into a game’s story, but I’m also very much so a completionist, so I always try to 100% every game I play, even after I’ve completed the game’s story! If that’s something that’ll take months to do, I’ll probably take breaks from time to time once I’ve completed the story to focus on other games and stuff, but I usually always come back until I’m 100% done!
As far as I’m concerned, I haven’t completed a game until I’ve 100% completed everything!
It depends on the game. If doing so is way too difficult for me, then I probably won't be able to. Also depends on how much I like the game and if fully completing it is worthwhile to me. In some games it is kinda pointless but in other games there might be more story or something fun like unlocking music or art.
Just complete the story. Whenever I try to 100% a game I get burned out and quit. I tried with Breath of the Wild and the experience left me with such a bad experience in my mouth that I no longer enjoy open world games.
Banjo-Kazooie, Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, A Hat in Time, and Shantae and the Seven Sirens are the ones I like to 100%. (and even A Hat in Time can technically be crossed off the list if you include the Death Wish challenges)
Any other game, I'm content with just getting to the final boss, and if the game is too difficult and the frustration isn't worth it, I give up.
i mostly 100% games that i'm really into. sometimes i'll complete the platinum if i'm less of a fan of the game but it's pretty easy to do. otherwise just the main story or i'll abandon it part way through.
This is very game-dependent. If I'm loving the mechanics themselves, I'll 100% the game, or at least go far past the conclusion. Mario Wonder was really fun, so my partner and I fought through the super hard extra levels at the end. I adored Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon for the 3DS, so I rescued EVERY Pokemon in the entire game.
A lot of the time I think I'm somewhere in between "main story" and "literally every single task has been completed." Most games don't feel Done to me until I've finished all the levels or objectives, which tend to extend well beyond the last cutscene. Every plot and subplot needs resolution, and if it's a leveled game, I don't like leaving levels unfinished. But I don't feel a need to complete every single achievement for its own sake once the gameplay has settled into pure repetition, so tasks like "catch 500 bugs" or "get 5000 kills with this exact fusion rifle" or "collect every single hidden statue to unlock random pieces of art that you can view through the main menu" tend to fall by the wayside.
I don't tend to enjoy grinding. I enjoyed the 3DS Story of Seasons titles a lot, but I could never be one of those people who get to Year 10 or whatever. Once my immediate goals are complete, the cycle of just waking up to water crops, talk to townspeople, pet cows, and go to bed becomes a lot less appealing when it's like "do that exact thing 500 times in a row before your children will age into toddlers." And once I've beaten all the higher-level opponents in a Pokemon game, I'm not really interested in spending hours upon hours biking in circles to try to hatch shiny perfect IV Pokemon.
Most of the time I’m a 100% person! I don’t really seek out EVERYTHING to do in a video game, it just happens! If I really enjoy a game, I’ll finish everything I possibly can! If I don’t then I’ll probably play it once and then return it / never touch it again
For me, it depends on the game. For my first time playing the game, I usually just go for story completion and some side stuff if I'm in the mood. If I'm in the mood though for a second playthrough, I will try to 100% it. I've only 100%'d a handful of games in my life.
If I like the game and there isn't anything super grindy I like to go for 100%! I generally try to anyway but I'm muuuch happier using my time where it matters more these days.
Most of the time when playing a game I'm done after the story is done. Some games I know off the bat I'll never get 100% in a million years. Others I won't because if I aim for it the game isnt fun anymore even though it is doable for me. And then others beyond that I absolutely go for the 100% and find it enjoying.
I can't quite put my thumb on why or how. Because a game could be challenging to me and I have fun working on 100%ing it. Sometimes it isn't challenging and it is just a chill game.
Generally I want to go for 100%. There's nothing more I hate than games that make achievements unavailable to be quirky. I do love my Steam stats. I don't have to though, last week I finished a rhythm/storydriven game. It has achievements for each level to reach rank A and then a seperate achievement to reach rank S+ in all of them. At first I redid the levels until I got rank A and then continued with the story, but the last two levels got so convoluted that it wasn't fun anymore to beat that obstacle. It might take me 100+ tries to get S+ on the last two levels and I just do not have the mental capacity for that. It's too annoying, but I don't mind grinding collectibles. I actually enjoy that part.
It depends on how much fun I'm having with the game, but also how much work is involved. Like in Zelda: Breath of the Wild, I gladly completed not just the main story, but all of the shrines and side quests too (because I was enjoying the game immensely). But finding all 900 Korok seeds in that huge of a world feels nearly impossible to me. At least without using a guide (and I don't like using guides).
That said, there are games where I do 100% everything. However, they tend to be older games. I loved the collecting aspect in Donkey Kong 64, Banjo Kazooie, and Jak and Daxter, and I wanted to find everything. I also 100% completed many of the older Mario games. But a lot of the newer games tend to overdo it, adding so many things to find that it's like searching for a needle in a haystack factory the size of Vermont. It's not always worth the dozens/hundreds of hours it would take to search for them all.
Depends on the game, but if I really like it I'll usually try to go for 100%. If they're reasonable enough, sometimes Ill go for all of the achievements too.
it really depends for me. if i really love the game, i'll go out of my way to complete every quest/find every collectible, but i usually just finish the main story and leave it at that.
I'm prone to burn out. I'm especially prone to 'I have other things on my mind that I want to start playing'. Hence, getting 100% is a rare occasion for me.
There's no taking a break for me. Because when I take a break I'll probably never feel like picking the game back up again.
I have to complete while I'm in a groove of playing. That goes for simply playing the story too.
I try to finish even the games I don't like if I started them, I go for 100% if it's either fun and engaging, or seems fast enough to make for a quick addition to my platinum trophy shelf
