Heh. i've noticed a lot of people rant about this and try to fix it. so now i wonder just how many people care ab this....

i personally don't really care too much, i think it's cute when sherb wears weird colors lol
ofc i'd love for Vivian to stop wearing that baby romper i *accidentally* gave her

Originally I never cared about their originality (or at least in NL), but after awhile, the idea of keeping their house and clothes original appealed to me. I reset a couple of my villager’s houses by kicking them out via amiibo card and inviting them back with a card since the messed up houses started bothering me a lot. When I got Tex from someone’s void though (after I realized who he came from), I gifted him some tuxedos and a top hat (my friend recommended it once i asked him if the tex came from his town), and realized how fun dressing them up was and how much fun I’m missing out on, so the plan to keep their clothes original (or at least for some of them) has been scratched lol.

If I like a villager's outfit, then yep, I don't usually gift my permanent villagers clothing. But I hated Lucky's original shirt, so I gifted him some cute sweaters and I personally think he looks much better now lol.

I use the villagers I want to get rid of as dumping grounds for unwanted clothing. Norma has three dresses and Curlos has a very ugly pullover jacket.

first of no i dont care and second dom is life, NO ONE SHALL TOUCH MEH CHILD, I soft reset when i restarted just to have him, he is meh baby.

I let them be. I "adopted" 3 villagers and their original owners gave them some cute clothes that I really don't mind but what really bugs me is when they don't use/have their catchphrases. About their homes, I only give presents to my villagers when it's their bday but if they want to buy something from me like a bug, I just let them have it.

I think it would be nice if we were able to better customise their inventories and homes. I think if there were some way to avoid permanent changes to them, via being able to fully customise them or simply reset at any time, it'd be much less stressful to simply enjoy having the villagers around. As it stands, if you want to keep the value of a popular villager so that they can move on one day, you're walking on eggshells around them and can't fully appreciate them yourself because you're only thinking about another person's enjoyment of them later.

As for me I like that there are certain pieces in villager homes that they will never get rid of as it is, that in a sense is originality in itself. Also I like that their preferences in style and colour play a part in whether they parade around the gifts you give them. It's not as if they're entirely mindless robots about wearing the last thing you gave them, so I do like to gift my villagers.

Plus, since I'm in the mindset of not simply selling back anything I bought, I prefer not to waste items, so my throwaway villagers get a lot of random gifts, especially through the mail.

I always make sure to let people know if a villager is original or not before trading. I'm careful with what I gift but early on I gave a few some fish that they now display in their house. Of course I'd warn of this before giving them away and wouldn't be too keen to accept a villager in the same scenario unless they were given away.

I don't mind if they have been given some items, as long as they're not incorrect for the character. If they match their style/color scheme then great, that's less things I have to gift! I care more about house originality than I do their clothes because I can always gift them new things they will wear more often. For example, I took a gifted Judy from someone but all the clothes they gave were cute so I don't mind.

I've traded original and unoriginal villagers before. I'm happy to accept either, I just think it's important that both parties communicate effectively before the trade takes place. I don't keep mine original in terms of clothes but have made a reasonable effort to make their houses original!

I like giving my villagers clothes that I think look cute on them. I try not to give them furniture unless I think it would look good in their house.

I have been unable to say no to my favorite ones tho so they have dumb fish in their houses so I hope I don't ruin their houses so much that it bothers me.

I always gift them anything I think would fit them or their houses. I get the appeal of keeping them original though, especially if you plan to eventually let them move to someone else that would appreciate a "blank" slate - but personally, I love giving them things because it feels like they're settling down, living and growing along with me on the island. Like a true passage of time, if that makes sense.

I also enjoy it when they give eachother gifts. Joey received a Sushi outfit from Hazel a while ago, it looks ridiculous, but I think it's cute when he wears it. Memories made. 😊

If I adopt a villager from someone, I care if they’re original bc **I** want to be able to make them unoriginal if that makes sense. Once they’re on my island, I’ll give them whatever I think will match them or looks cute! I feel like it adds personality and originality to the villagers since a lot of people can have the same villager as you

I’ve been gifting my deer (and accountant cat) clothes that fit the overall theme. Once I’ve completed that I’ll start working on getting good furniture for them. Once I’ve completed that I’ll just go to fruit.

I like giving them things that match their homes and personalities. I haven't actively tried to redecorate anyone's home yet, though there are a few I'd like to change up

If I'm selling them I make sure they're 100% original, but if it's mine then I love to keep their house original. I love giving them clothes that fit their aesthetic

I prefer to keep most of my villagers as original as possible, but I have gifted some clothes that I think suit them more. I’m very picky though.

I don’t care if they’ve been gifted things tbh.

I LOVE giving them new clothes to wear that suit their style. I’ve been able to get all my villager’s photos (except Rosie) by just giving them clothes or wrapped non-native fruit.

I have given a few of them furniture but nothing that doesn’t suit their houses (except that time I accidentally gave Sherb a green/red neon diner sign 😭)

I care and don’t care. I mostly don’t care enough to give them stuff. But it bothers me how the item get displayed In their homes. It’s weird how the game was designed like that

In New Leaf, it meant everything to me. But in New Horizons, I decided to loosen up a bit. As long as its not a massive clash to their colours, I don't really mind.

I actually prefer unoriginal villagers since it gives them a more unique feeling. There's thousands of versions of my villagers in other towns, but the little things I or someone else give my villagers makes them slightly different from those other thousands of villagers.

I haven't bothered with gifting clothes as of late. It makes my gifting rounds more time-consuming, as I have to wrap gifts one at a time or colour-code the wrapping paper I use.

I don't do fish/bug-catching requests for my villagers anymore because they always display the critter in their house. :/ Learned that the hard way with my starting line-up of villagers. It makes me sad that I'm stopped from doing these quests for them because of the furniture display mechanism; I hate saying no to my villagers. ;_;

I've given up on getting frustrated with villagers picking up each other's catchphrases. In my opinion, it's just not worth getting upset anymore, lol. If it happens, it happens.🤷‍♀️
