Do you all think NMT will remain a popular currency item?

In the past, Bells have basically been the only in game currency item but in New Horizons, Nook Mile Tickets started to become widely used as currency in online trading, sometimes even more than bells.

Do you all think NMT being used as a currency for online trading is here to stay, or will it shift back to bells or perhaps some other item?

Easier to stack an inventory of NMTs vs. Bells

A stack of bells is 4M
A stack of NMTs is 80M

Unless we suddenly get an online banking mechanism / eTransfers via Nook Bank, then I can see NMTs for the foreseeable future

I think NMT will remain a viable currency as long as bells are easy to earn (stalk market) and there's no faster alternative for looking for villagers.

I know I'd much rather have golden nuggets than NMTs, but that doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things.

As the game is out longer and more and more NMTs are put into circulation I'd imagine their value will go down and bells will come back into demand. I don't think NMTs are being redeemed anywhere near the rate that they're being bought from the store

It's funny because people might think NMT is used as currency bc people want to look for villagers, but some people I trade with said they use NMT just because it's easier, so sadly it's here to stay. At least they cant suffer from inflation... for now...

Fragments and gold have been used as a currency as well, and I think most seasonal item will be used as a currency while they have relevance (cherry petals was a currency for some days).

i think when the new villagers (like audie and raymond) get amiibos and the plot glitch is fully fixed (hopefully this patch is it), prices will go down since the most wanted villagers will be easier to obtain. that will drive prices down, but I imagine NMT will always be preferred when you can easily accrue bells through turnips

Tbh once I get my final dreamies (Coco and Lucky) I won't have much need for NMTs besides using them for gathering resources...Unless Nintendo adds in more islands, cause I'm tired of getting Trash Island all the time.

Eh. I think once the need for certain villagers has died down or they get amiibo cards then the nmt craze will die down. People usually only want them to cycle through islands for villagers anyway

I think they are lowering! I saw someone selling them on ACC for 150k yesterday. There is hope

I think NMTs will be used for a long while. Not only because they are used to find villagers, but also because they are a source of materials for things like weeds for DIYs. I personally don't use NMTs to find villagers, but I do use them for materials and to get to like money making islands.

I think nook mile tickets will continue to be used as a currency due to the fact people use them to island hop for villagers

i imagine after the new amiibos will finally be for sale (that might not be for a couple of months though due to the ongoing virus; maybe late summer?) then, nook miles won't be needed as much, and the amiibo cards themselves will go down in value. both nook miles and amiibo cards are ridiculously priced, which is sad to see

I personally don't think that the price will remain high. If Nintendo releases a Raymond amiibo, expect prices to plummet. I don't see them ever becoming completely worthless, because mystery islands can generate gold nuggets and other resources. However, I can't see them staying at the current price point forever.
