Do villagers appearances really matter to you?

Appearance matters to me but obviously everyone has different tastes so villagers I find cute aren't necessarily who other people find cute. But at the end of the day I want villagers I feel attached to on my island!

Appearance does matter but like JellyBeans said,it's more important to find villagers that I have a rapport with no matter what they look like.I had a cycling town in New Leaf and I saw a lot of villagers come through it and I think that helped me in not judging the villagers just by their appearance.

appearance is something I look for, yes. however if I get a cute villager and I don't end up liking them I won't keep them

Since the personalities are pretty much set, the character design is super important to me. If I’m going to have someone whisper about bugs to me I’d much rather have it be sherb or erik over Clyde. Sure there will be the random unfortunate looking ones who will work their way into my heart, but it’s rare and far few between.

again beauty is in the eye of the beholder so someone I find absolutely adorable, others may find ugly ^^

i mean zell is handsome af. i can't blame your sister.

i have my own preferences. what could be cute for me might not be attractive to others. i feel like i don't like most "cute" villagers anyway, i find them boring or repetitive-but don't get me wrong....not because they are popular but just because some doesn't appeal to me. and that's probably how some of the villagers i like look to other people.

i'd be lying if i say appearances don't matter though. i do design my island and it would lowkey bother me if i have a villager or a villager house that looks so out of place on a certain area. but i'm not really opposed to trying new villagers. it's just that, they won't be on my island forever.
Alright, that's it. You crossed a line (literally!) when you typed out that first sentence. I never want to see that again 😤

i mean to a degree yes, cause like have u seen some of the villagers? LOL but for me it doesn’t matter TOO much. some people only get their villagers based on popularity which to me is worse than basing villagers on looks, cause some of the populars don’t even appeal to me that much. i just pick who i find cute. some of them i bought specifically, but other ones i went just looking for a cute villager and got the first one i liked. i find a lot of them cute but if i couldn’t bear to leave them on the island, then i snatched them lol. i remember, i wanted judy for a long time and went hunting for her, but found julia instead! i love all my villagers i have a full 10 and i don’t plan on letting any of them go. the most important thing abt villagers is just whether you’re gonna like them long-term and i think i found all my forever pals :^). i think the “ugliest” villager i have is nate, but i grew to love him and i find him cute. on the other hand i have stereotypical cute villagers like marina or cookie aha idk mines just a mix and match tbh but i love them all

Since this is my first ac game, it is my goal to cycle through all of them. So I guess my answer right now is that appearances don't matter.
I think that statement will probably change later when I actually have villager goals. However while cycling, I have ended up liking villagers I thought at first were just creepy or hideous. Or I at least not feel as negatively towards them now.
I think seeing a character actually animated and have reactions can make all the difference than just a picture of them online or them just walking by.

It somewhat matters to me, in terms of color, but not really cuteness.
I specifically pick out my villagers to have darker or dull colors.

I have Barold and Rodeo (who to others might not look the cutest, but I adore them). They fit my color scheme though.

*cOugh*
1. zell is adorbs. Tell your sister the random Animal Crossing fangirl totally agrees with her.
2. Smugs are the absolute best personality. So gentlemanly and stuck up at the same time. Gotta love em.

Other than that ... uh... yeah. I'm not a fan of ugly villagers. There are some exceptions, perhaps maybe they have some cute features that I like, or they're ugly-cute. Sorta like Lucy. I don't really wanna discriminate ugly villagers and all, but if Limberg were to show up at my campsite (again :oops:) I wouldn't take him.

What's funny is... well... all the personalities are just... clones. Zell is basically a much-better looking version of Beardo. It doesn't matter all that much if you dislike Barold... because he's the ugly version of Sherb. Just different skins. One is nicely designed, the other isn't. We can pick and choose

Kinda, I won't have a villager if they look awful but also won't have them if they're just boring.
I love merengues design but God I really regret getting her, she's so boring!!
If she's ever in boxes honestly will just give her away instead of charging NMT.

Yes appearance matters to me since there are only 6 personality types and 6 hobbies (and 300+ villagers!). I personally go for more "unique" villagers (like Sly and Diva) but also like traditionally cute villagers as well (like Ankha and Judy). I also have come to love villagers who I felt indifferent toward at first, probably just for nostalgic reasons (like Buck!). Villagers who I do NOT like either look scary or yucky to me, such as that one baboon (scary) and limberg (the gross rat with the 5 o'clock shadow). I'm an intense germaphobe irl so thats why "dirtiness" comes into play here lol.

Extremely, yes. Some villagers I find really ugly and I don't want them on my island. I will only take them if I think they are cute.

I do usually pick ones that are cute. But I also like villagers that are so ugly, they cute. Hahaha. And sometimes I think they might be ugly, but then I love them. I had Clyde and thought "of course this game would give me the most ugly hourse. But then everytime he asked to move, I said no because I ended up loving him. I had to restart my game though, so I made sure to get his amiibo online. >_<

To an extent, yes. If I see a villager design that disgusts me such as Wart Jr. for example, I'd avoid him. But if I get villagers that some people deem 'ugly', I don't mind. As long as someone is not being an eyesore, I'm totally fine with who I meet.

Not really, but then again I think that stems from the fact that I am a trans female, and I don't really judge other people based on what they decide to wear.. so I don't usually judge my villagers based on what they decide to wear.

Yes and no. To be honest, I always like villagers based on appearance, so I tend to be picky about who's on my island or not, but once in awhile I try out a new villager to find out if I like them or if I hate them. I actually have quite a few villagers I like and some I'm not too big a fan of. So yeah, appearance does have a big effect on me on who I really like.

It does matter for me. Otherwise, I won't have a list of dream villagers.

As for personality types, I often pick peppy, snooty, and normal villagers. I dislike both jock and smug types. I am neutral to cranky villagers.

I like to have villagers that I like the design of, but that could be anything. I had Coach for months, first glance I didn't like him, but then I ended up thinking he was adorable. Villagers I think are cute could be villagers that others find ugly or even creepy. So, if I like the appearance or design of a villager, I'll give them a chance on my island to see if I bond with them. If I don't bond with them I would move them out. So yes, appearances matter, but they aren't the only thing that matters.

Olaf isn't bad looking :eek::eek: Not at all!
Well, at least I think he is among the best looking villagers in the game and that is exactly why I have him. A villager's design matters a lot to me, I wouldn't know based on what else I could judge them. Personality barely matters to me (in this game!), although I do like it if the design and personality of a specific villager make sense to me. I don't think that I'd like Olaf as much if he was a jock 😆
