It seems as soon as a villager is in tier 1, 500 more people want it, so I'm wondering why?

sometimes but i have 1 tier 5 villager i want and i can't find them anywhere! tier 3 and under are often voided when they could be someones dreamie :( poor Bill...

They don't affect the villagers I want beyond making it more annoying when I'm trying to find a villager that nobody seems to have.

Yeah, tier lists kind of ruin the amazing variety of villagers we have in the game since lower tier villagers (like PIPPY) ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND NOW BECAUSE EVERYONE ASSUMES NO ONE WANTS THEM

the only dream villager I even have is Egbert. as he is tier 5 and unpopular, I imagine it'll take me 5evr to get a hold of him. unless I get incredibly lucky with the campsite or whatever. oh well, I'm ready to hold out for him. :y still annoying, though.

edit: aww, that's too bad. :c I had Pippy as one of my starting villagers. too bad she isn't still around, I'd let you have her.

I picked him up from a void once and thought he was really popular because he is so cute, he was my wild world crush ~ I wish i still had him but he wouldn't fit into my town :(

I've been wanting her for a while now... ugh

It's because people are greedy and want to sell villagers for more and look like they have good villagers and stuff.

But in my town, if you're cute you're in!

Oh and I just realised I haven't even seen Pippy in New Leaf.

Sounds good!

I love your avatar, so cute!

I don't pay attention to the tier list very much. I generally choose villagers that has a nice character design + interior design.

Nope. Some of my favourite villagers are low tier.
I base my Dreamies off past villagers, colour, appearance etc. Not what others think of them c:

I think it's more the other way around. They're Tier 1 because lots of people want them -- people don't necessarily want them just because they're popular. I know there are some who like to collect popular villagers for the trophy aspect, but mostly I think a lot of people just like the conventionally cute villagers!
Personally I just pick the villagers I like!

Part of it is probably that a lot of the top tier villagers have more individual/universally appealing designs, like Ankha, Stitches, Zucker, or the influx of cats/wolves/deer, etc.

But part of it is that people are drawn to "rare" or desirable items - diamonds, luxury brand names, the more expensive coffee, etc. It's about than just the villager, but the icon. I have a friend who doesn't think much of the lower tier villagers only because they aren't "rare." My favorite Pokemon might be Skiddo, but I don't get to brag about it or show off its flash appeal as much as someone who's bragging about their favorite Mewtwo. They're both great, but one is "unordinary" and one is a popular, powerful icon. It's the same line of thought for AC villagers!

EDIT: Not that I like or dislike lower or higher tier villagers specifically for that, I was only explaining why I thought it seemed that way :~)

No, I picked my dream villagers before I even knew there was a tier list. I chose ones I liked the look of and I thought were cute, it ended up that some were popular and some were at the bottom of the list. :)

Actually this is what I did, seeing as how new leaf is my first ever Animal crossing game I had no idea which villagers I would like, so a pulled up a list of all of them and choose the ones I liked the most C:

Villagers in lower tiers are impossible to find because everyone assumes no one will be interested in them. Villagers in higher tiers are harder to obtain because so many people want them. There's no winning.

I pay no attention to tiers. I like some villagers that are all the way in the lowest tier :P

I like villagers from all tiers. My two favorites are Pietro and Benjamin. I think a lot of people do want higher tier villagers, but most won't admit it.

A villager tier place doesnt affect me any. A couple of my dreamies happen to be Tier 5 villagers, but a couple of them are tier 1. I find its harder to get the tier 5 villagers since a lot of people auto-void them :/
