There's a few games I want that are released in America before Europe, so I was thinking of sending the money for email to a good friend who lives in America, and having them but the games and post them back here to the UK. But would those games still work on my 3DS, or would I need an American console?

Yeah, 3DS implanted the wonderful region locking system we all asked for.

and last I checked that still hasn't been hacked (or if it has the method of doing so hasn't been publicly revealed yet)

It has been, I can't link though since I would probably get another infraction.

dumb

I mean I understand the reason for it (as if its anything like Wii's homebrew channel it allows for piracy), but i just want to be able to buy and play Japanese games that I think look good that we'll never get for various reasons.

Yeah, very much thinking of getting a Vita instead, at least that is not locked.

Since the regular Ds'es were free(up until dsi) i don't get why they added this when so few games get here :(

It doesn't make any sense to me. Games that have been translated into English for America, UK, Australia, etc. shouldn't be region-locked, because they are all English. This goes for games in other languages. I mean, seriously? Why did we need a region-lock on 3DS?!

"Laws"

Lol so why is Vita and the DS before the Dsi enhanced stuff region free then LOLOL.

Yeah I don't get why they must translate into french german blahblah when most stuff is english and they are lazy because they need their language. OH YEAH HOW ABOUT FINNISH SWEDISH AND 9976 other languages too. Come on Nintendo.

(no offense/racism to anyone, I just think it's stupid it gets delayed because they need to translate it every single ****ing time)

One of my contacts is always online playing Rune Factory 4, so I asked my local games shop about that title, and it wasn't localized to EUR/PAL region.

I can't even get it on the eShop!

And DQVII, I'm not sure that's even coming to the US though, so at least I won't be alone in missing that.

Isn`t Rune Factory 4 scheduled for spring 2014? (As in coming pretty damn soon?)

I know this, because I`m waiting for this game as well.

I agree btw with the complaint earlier in the thread about games having to be translated to languages like French and German.
Most gamers in these nations speak English more then well enough to play it in English, so just do that. The wait can sometimes be months, thats just silly. Just release the game with an option to buy a complementary dictionary, then it even becomes an educational thingy.

I haven't heard any information about a spring release, but a quick google search provided this article, so I'm not holding my breath.

Me too, I want SMT IV :c And RF 4 since they canceled it here.

Also dumb eshop get Senran Kagura already ffs.

*hugs EU* While I'm happy that we've got RF4 and all the other stuff, it irritates me so bad that Nintendo doesn't give EU their games very quickly. The only time they got something before us recently was Pokemon Bank, and that was only a day (though some people were pissed off at Nintendo for releasing it with no announcement or apology). Apparently EU doesn't matter to Nintendo. GOD.

Oh you were right, it got cancelled. Damn, I really wanted that one...
