Do you feel New Leaf has enough variety in it, or do you think there could be more options?

I personally feel like in all aspects, there could always be more, even with the new additions. But especially with plants and with housing exteriors, I feel like we could use a lot more variety. I'd love more types of trees, different bushes (especially size and color wise), heck, even a variety of more weeds.

Clothing
Housing exteriors
Interior items & themes
Public Works
Trees, plants, and flowers

In these areas, what do you guys think in terms of variety. Do we have enough or should there be more? What would you add in an area you found lacking, if you could?

There are only so many items that can be included in the game, so I'm not really disappointed in that. What I dislike the most is the unnecessary limits placed on PWPs, trees, bushes, etc. which limit creativity. The 2 space rule between PWPs is dumb when there only really needs to be one space between them. The 30 PWP limit is also unnecessary. It would have also been nice to be able to rotate PWPs. I would have liked to not have the limit on the number of bushes in a row, so that people could do stuff like hedge mazes and enclosed areas. The furniture limit in a room also sucks. If you can physically fit it in, then you should be able to place it. It's the things like these that really irritate me more than the finite number of items.

I love the GC version for many reasons, particularly the villager personalities being more sassy and mean. However, New Leaf has more overall variety. That just comes with time.

I wish the map had more variety. Like maybe it could be possible to have towns with no beaches or no rivers? it'd just be cool to get some variety. I also wish main street had more things to do/buy on it... club lol more like club lame

I do laugh when I see like just 2 villagers shaking their big elephant or rhino butts in the club. Sad.

lol lost it at club lame

But yeah, map variety would be nice too. The thing is, we need beaches and rivers to catch fish though. Main street could use some more stuff though for sure. It'd be cool if instead of one big store, there was a variety of stores. Music store, garden store (separate like it is to begin with), Gracie gets her own place, etc.

Let start with 20 animal villagers and several more PWP that has villagers in them shall we?

I strongly agree with everything you said here, especially the bit about spacing PWPs.

Yes! I miss those a lot. The good old days when crankies were cranky and snooties were snooty.

New Leaf should have way more variety in villager dialogue.

I'm fine with the other things you mentioned. I mean, I wouldn't mind if there was even more variety in them and I hope there will be in the next game, but for now I'm good. What bothers me more than the amount of variety is the limits that restrict our use of the things we do have. I agree with what Red Cat said. Especially the furniture limit in a room and the limits in placing landscaping items around town are annoying and restrict creativity.

The only thing that disappoints me is the lack of variety in dialogue and shops. I would love to see mainstreet a bit bigger and busier, maybe we could have a little cinema and you can meet with villagers there and watch a short clip of something, or a restaurant where you can sit and eat. More places to buy things, a larger clothing store. Maybe they can change dialogue for each animal species, rather than just for personality.

I'm one of those party poopers that thinks the game would lose its charm with excess additions. New Leaf is meant to be a simple, laid-back game with just enough to keep you busy between its varying activities. Once you start to add multiple types of everything, the game begins to become more complex and goes more towards a Stardew Valley (exaggeration) than New Leaf.

That's why I'm so pleased with the update. They incorporated some great changes that make sense (campsite, HHD furniture, controls, Wisp and his lamp).

I agree with what Red Cat said about the bush and PWP limit and what LinkToTheWorld said. I kinda wish we could travel to the city like we could in City Folk, because it was super busy there compared to boring old Main Street. Except maybe since we already have Gracie's store and Kicks in our town, they could've put new buildings and attractions in the City. Main Street just makes me a little sad because all I see there is my ugly old villagers who moved out and occasionally one of my own. It's just so boring. Don't get me wrong though, I still love the game lol

Well yes, of course. I'd like to be able to place ponds in specific placed and fill ponds in with dirt, like a pwp

The limits are awful but I'm okay with the variety. The game's supposed to be simple, e.g. characters don't even have fingers, trees don't lose their leaves in winter (except the town tree), the grass consists of geometrical shapes instead of super detailed grass leaves, ect...

regarding clothes, I'm bothered that there's nowhere near as many bottoms or shoes as there are shirts/dresses.
I also wish there were more accessories. I wish there was a pair of black frames that looked like the red or blue glasses.

while I like all the new furniture items added with the update, it's a little annoying that none of it is orderable. it makes sense, sure, but I would have much preferred new items to buy at the store. oh well.
edit before someone says the giant items are orderable, I'm talking about all the stuff at the campground and from the 50 RV cards.

For new players, I think it can be quite overwhelming with everything there is. But for players who have had their towns for years, it can get quite monotonous and boring.

I feel like the character dialogue is very lacking, they get repetitive after a while. I wish they were more like ACGC...

I was gonna say the same thing... Sometimes the dialogues and conversations with villagers get repetitive. With a second town, tho they are technically different villagers, the same type of personality villagers kinda talk the same way and things they talk about overlap a lot.. it makes me wish there were little more variety..

We d e s p e r a t e l y need dialogue variety! Yesterday I spoke to Whitney 3 times in a row...she said the EXACT same thing those 3 times. My smug mentions cucumbers literally 12 times a day. It's ridiculous and not enjoyable at all. It's come to the point where I'm perfectly fine with not speaking to my villagers. I love watching them and I'm excited to see them every day, but I barely have the urge to talk to them half the time because I can practically predict the exact thing they're going to say. What keeps me talking to them is how much you can mess with their greeting & catchphrase. You can give them more personality that way, which is nice.

And the fact that they watered every personality down to the point where they're all just different shades of "nice" is frustrating, too. They ruined certain personalities just because some whiny children got triggered in Wild World and it makes no sense.

Some variety in main street would be nice. Different shops or at least the ability to recolor some buildings. Put that Nook to work, yknow? lol. Some new flowers would be AMAZING, growing hybrids is one of my favorite parts of the game. New fruits would also be cool. It'd tie in with new bushes as well, since it'd be nice to have harvestable berry bushes and grape vineyards and stuff. Other than that I'd say the game's fine. I agree with something that was previously mentioned in this thread; That the variety is fine, but the limits are what's bothersome. The PWP placement is absolutely ridiculous...... That's the one thing they definitely must change in future games.

Edit/In Addition: I realize that I complain about the dialogue alllll the time. And I realize that I'll most likely ***** about it every day 'til the day I die. It can't be helped.
