Disappointing Gifts & Overpriced Goodies?

Normally, I love to receive gifts from my villagers. Yesterday, I was really excited when Pierce gave me a sink as a reward for giving him a peach, but then when I tried to put my candy jar on it today, I found out that you can't put stuff on it. So now all that counter space that it came with is just gonna be empty and blank, which I personally find awkward.
Then today I was Re-Tail and saw someone had put a record player up for sale, and immediately jumped at the chance because I thought it would be cheap compared to what I'd have to pay in Nookling Junction. But it was priced at 980 Bells. That's almost as much as I paid for the blue bookshelf. Sometimes I just can't help but wonder what these villagers are thinking when they put stuff for sale in that shop. It's like they actually need the Bells for, like, bills or something.
What some disappointing gifts and overpriced goods you guys have come across lately?

the most disappointing gifts I've gotten would be like... every single time I get a letter saying they bought something that reminded me of them/must've been me in a past life, and it turns out to be a moldy shirt or garbage can or something lol sigh................

I know what you mean! My villager Joey will come up to me and say "This reminded me of you so I thought you should have it!" And normally its something at least kinda nifty but last time it would the moldy tee!

I almost always get great gifts like an Ninja Shirt, or less interesting, Aurora Knit Shirt.

Okay, suddenly, I feel like everyone who's ever said these villagers aren't mean is a liar. Like I never noticed it until just recently, but a lot the gifts they send seem really passive aggressive now that I think about it.

Sometimes it goes the other way. Like Bam put up 2 sloppy items 2 days in a row for dirt cheap. All just a matter of chance.

why not just get some on the island??

also the fruit gifts are useful for people who play without wifing with people and cant trade fruit.

I buy whatever villagers sell me, and its nearly always disappointing but hey theyre my friends lmai

I thought persimmons were really rare?
I sell most of what they give me. I don't see the point in keeping something I don't like when someone else could get more use out of it.

Haha, same here, but it was a toilet!

The gifts are ALWAYS awful. The only good one was from Isabelle on valentine's day. SHE thinks I'm doing a good job as mayor at least. XD

Sometimes they do, I've gotten a couple of hybrids before. Or none-native fruit. And if you have someone like Marshal, I guess you can buy the sloppy stuff from him. It's not really a gift though, since you have to buy it.

An over-priced goodie I got from Diana was the throne. And that is what.. like 900,000 bells? I was surprised. I only got her a perfect pear and I get something way better than a fruit. O_O And disappointing gifts? I don't even know where to start. I got a letter from Julian saying: " This reminded me of you! Enjoy! " and I open a present up, it's a garbage can. Thanks Julian.. ;-;

Oh, I got a throne in exchange for perfect fruit once too! Maybe you have to give them good gifts first. It also doesn't hurt to reset a little til they wise up.
