unless they get sad, in which case i am not able to deal with it and proceed to shower them with gifts
i’ve done this once because i thought it would be funny. (it was not. never again. *shudder*)

Well, the post specifically asked about keeping a much-hated villager just for the purpose of hitting them around.
That's the part I find... slightly odd.
If there's a villager I don't like, I'd prefer to let them go instead of having them live on my Island indefinitely for the sole purpose of abusing them.

Idk I guess it's all in good fun but it's a bit odd imo? Especially because 99% of the time the hate comes from the villager being "ugly". Imagine doing stuff like that to someone irl just bc of their looks lmaoo

Plus I don't hate any of the characters. I don't want them suffer, even if I dislike their appareance (I don't give name, but I think almost everyone has the same list!)

No. I'm not the sort of person who would enjoy that. Even if I'm not fond of a villager I'll still talk to them and give them gifts. Sort of how you still need to be polite and pleasant towards people you dislike in the real world just to keep the peace.

I've never abused any of my villagers because I knew that if I want someone gone I need to ignore them. So I did.

I did hit both Antonio and Rex a lot before just to force them into moving out. But after seeing their faces, I didn't have the heart to continue. In regards to keeping them as punching bags, that one didn't cross my mind at all. Why would I need to do that? I can just let them go and find a better place to live.
