don't exactly know, i heard it once on a tv show
granted it was a cartoon but hey it was one airing on pbs (public broadcasting station)
so it might have a grain of legitimacy in it seeing as how that channel is stuffed with educational shows

The direct translation of "panda" in Mandarin (da xiong mao) is "big bear cat", but scientifically, I don't believe there is any connection. c:
