Critique this town map?

I've been resetting for like 2 days trying to find a certain map, well I never got it but I found this one just 5 minutes ago and I kinda like it. Anyways I was wanting the opinions of the people here, what do you think of it? And don't worry, you can be honest, if I change my mind I just started it like 5 minutes ago so it wouldn't be a big deal to reset. Also I'll be putting a bridge where my person is. And what do you think would be a good place to put my house?

edit: oh and all the houses already moved in I will be moving out. Lol so ignore the houses.

I personally think it looks like it has a ton of space to work with and a nice river shape that splits the town up nicely but i'm not a fan of the Re-Tail being smushed so close to the cliff but it is about even from the dock/train station. Might be a bit annoying for trades. I think if you can make it work it would be awesome

The placing of retail isn't to my liking personally but otherwise I think it looks nice; space to work with and the river isn't too long.

The only thing I PERSONALLY don't like about it is that Re-Tail is shoved right up against the edge. But that's solely because of map aesthetics - it's actually in a really functional, prime location to me. Least it looks like it is. I'd still end up shuffling to another map because it would bother me that it's jammed right against the border, but I'm a brat, you are not, therefore it is the perfect map for you

For house placing it really just depends on convenience / how much landscaping if any you want to have around your house / if you are fine with the ocean being heard inside / do you mind stuff that might be troublesome if you thought about it from a realistic standpoint (a house up against the train rail would be noisy if a train passed for example)

If I had to pick I'd probably have it up along the train rail (although I know lots of people don't like houses there) directly behind retail so it's a clear run down from there when you want to sell things from your storage

I really like this map! I have to agree that the Re-Tail is a little close to the cliff, but you have some really interesting aspects to your town! That hefty expanse of space in the top left corner looks promising for future PWPs as well.

Oh, and also, I think a great area to place your house (if you haven't done so already) is directly northeast of the pond next to Re-Tail. That way, you still have all of that space left in the top left corner and you have a non-intrusive spot!

I really don't like it personally :c I think the plaza is too isolated, and too close to the station
Re-Tail is in a weird area, and it not good for either trades OR selling stuff from fishing..
And I don't like the weird thin strip of land! They always bug me, cause it's hard to walk around in if anything but trees go there...

I think it the plaza and town hall were switched around, it would be okay, but like it is- I personally hate it xD

Also I'd want to put my house in the little corner by the bridge, but I think it's too close to a villager house to do so...

I don't like the river placement to be honest
but it will be easy to landscape around the Re-Tail!

I like the shape. I like that one pond. I am not a big fan of plaza's next to train station tbh, but I like it.

Also, if I were you I would place my house in one of these spots:

It's pretty good! It has a lot of space in both sides of the river to build PWP's or to get villagers' houses. Also, that single pond is something I was trying to get in my town, and I didn't end up getting (in exchange for Poppy, so... )

I personally think that's a great map! The river is fairly straight, so you have lots of room to work with without seeming to have to deal with cramped space.

The only problem I see is that Re-Tail is a little far from the dock, but if you don't mind that, it's great! In one of my old towns, Re-Tail was right next to the train station, so beetle hunting was a bit of a hassle, but I loved taking the long walks at night. It's actually pretty relaxing (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

Pros:

Nice shape river
Only one pond
Centrally located Town Hall

Cons:

Retail is awkwardly located - it will be a pain to get to, from the gates and from the beach
Split beach (this alone would be a deal breaker for me)

It's great I could picture things fitting in nicely! Like everyone else though, the retail placement is odd.
