Has your game ver corrupted itself?
I played animal crossing new leaf so much, that the actual game card corrupted itself, glitching when I went on it, almost like a creepy pasta. About a few weeks later, it began to give me error messages, saying there was no game card, the card cant be read, and I need to reset my 3ds etc. It's really crazy to think that you can play a game so much that it practically dies on the inside. I'm not very sure if it overheated, or if it just corrupted the inside materials, either way, has this ever happened to you guys? I want to see if this is more rare or if its more common, or neutral.

Oh wow, that's never happened to me before, however I have ran the batteries dry on some older Pokemon games before.

The very first New Leaf cartridge I bought died after about two years of playing it.My game didn't start crashing and I didn't get any warning messages...it just wouldn't load one day and kept getting stuck on the red and black Nintendo logo screen.I Googled for what might have happened to it and it turns out that the motherboard can go bad after a while. The game save is still intact but the cartridge can't be played anymore when that happens. So,I also discovered that you can transfer your game save from a bad physical copy to a digital copy which is what I did.I've been playing my first New Leaf town,Catlips,on a digital copy since then.I'm not sure if this is what happened to your game but it's a possibility.

I haven't had that kind of thing happen with New Leaf but something related to the game card happened with my Pokemon X once. While I was playing (though not doing anything so important, just training a pokemon) a message suddenly popped up and it said that the game card had come off or something, I can't completely remember - at least I can remember that the game card wasn't touched in any way and at that moment I thought that the game had corrupted itself. Luckily that wasn't the case.

Since I play New Leaf a lot, I'm afraid that something strange would happen to my game card and I wouldn't be able to fix it. :o

thats never happened to me before haha. also u may wanna try a different font colour

This may have happened but im not exactly sure, my sister wiped the card so I will never really know if I was able to ever retrieve the data or not ):

i?ve heard lots of stories of people?s game data getting corrupt, from destroyed graphics to the haunted red message at the start of the game saying ?The save data has been corrupt?.

thankfully i have never corrupted, and i can backup my save data now so if i ever do, i can restore.

there is also these on-purpose graphics corruptions that people can do on new leaf with hacks. you can have a look in the spoiler below. creepy, but pretty cool!

Yes omg. I got New Leaf May 29th, 2014, and I played it quite a bit over the next year or so, but then on July 25, 2015, I got the red warning message that said "the same data is corrupted and will be deleted." I got really upset about that because I had already put about 450 hours into playing the game and it all went to waste.

Of course, 3 days later I started a new town, and this Summer I will have had it for 3 years. I haven't had any more issues with it so idk what caused it to corrupt the first time.

I've had a data error popup a couple of times, but it was just the memory card being knocked loose.

I took the 3ds apart, wiped the card with a cloth, and put in back in and back together.

That did the trick! ^_^

Yes. I actually had this happened to me once with Animal Crossing New Leaf as well as my Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. It really freaked me out because I was worried that I would have to start all over again after all the good progression that I had with both games. Luckily, I was able to to get both games to have my saves by re-inserting the game again. It was quite a relief for me. I had all the PWPs projects in Animal Crossing while in Pokemon Alpha Sapphire I had about a good amount of pokedex completion. I don't want to have to start over again. It would make me so sad. Sometimes I check from time to time to see if my saves from both games are still there.

Some tips not mentioned here -

1) If you are having problems try to create a new player character. See Isabelle. get a tent. Save.
Sometimes just creating a new character can reorganize the town save. It literally saved one of my towns.

2) Of you think your town is having cartridge problems and you want to keep the town, buy a digital copy is one option.

3) Another option is to buy a new Welcome Amiibo cartridge. It has to say Welcome Amiibo on the cartridge!!!!!!!
This will give you the option to take your digital or another physical cartridge town save and put it into the new Welcome Amiibo cartridge. Yes it?s scary but it has worked multiple times.

I have done all three of these options.

All towns have been saved.

Hope this helps someone out there reading this - as many of our towns are mature - poor overworked motherboards!!!

It never happened to me in ACNL, but it did happen in Tomodachi Life after I overheated it in my car.

So far I haven't had a corruption problem. My problem was the 2013 copy kept popping out of the 3DS and later stayed on the ACNL home screen for along time. Fixed it using the WELCOME Amiibo cartridge and imported my town. Two years later and everything is working. It takes a few minutes to transfer everything.

I once had the problem that the cartridge seemed to had a damage and because of this, I wasn't
able to play with my town anymore. At first, I was able to start the game, however, it crashed
after a minute until my DS didn't even wanted to read the cartridge anymore. I guess you can
say that because of this, the town got corrupted. I got then a new copy and start over with a
new town.

My first town (digital copy) got corrupted because I wanted to see if you could make another town on a second SD card. I was able to, but it corrupted the first town without giving any warning -_-

It’s fine now ofc bc I restarted on my larger SD card and ended up making a much more developed town than that first one anyway (and ended up finding this forum and literally changing my life in the process—what a weird snowball effect!), but I wonder if this welcome amiibo thing would work... It’d be cool to see my first town again, and hey if it’s welcome amiibo maybe it won’t be overrun with weeds and all of my villagers will still be there! Still, it’d probably fall to the wayside regardless since I can barely handle one animal crossing town lol

I should specify that my original town got the red “the town data has become corrupted” message, so I couldn’t make a new character. Do you think the Welcome Amiibo cartridge tactic would work in that case?

This is like my biggest fear :'O
I just know I would be totally heartbroken if I lost my town!!

My first acnl copy the save data corrupted twice. First time I lost a town which was almost complete. I was devastated and stopped playing for a week. I decided to buy a new copy because I didn't want to start over and have the same thing happen. Last month I created a town on the copy that corrupted. Didn't do much but place my house down, didn't play it for a week. When I went to check on it, the data was corrupted. Now that copy is just collecting dust.

One day my 3DS was having an usually hard time reading the cartridge I inserted (it had had problems with reading that exact cartridge before, but it was usually solved by popping the game in and out.) When I finally managed to get to Isabelle, a red message popped up, telling me that the data was corrupted, and that the data would be deleted. I immediately popped out the cartridge, and when I opened up the game again, everything was fine, and I haven't had a problem since then.

I just wanted to thank you for these suggestions and solutions. I haven't had a game become corrupted, but if that unfortunate event ever occurs, I now feel like I have some options to try and save my beloved towns.
