Corrupted Games?

The very first New Leaf cartridge I bought died after about two years of playing it.My game didn't start crashing and I didn't get any warning messages...it just wouldn't load one day and kept getting stuck on the red and black Nintendo logo screen.I Googled for what might have happened to it and it turns out that the motherboard can go bad after a while.The game save is still intact but the cartridge can't be played anymore when that happens.So,I also discovered that you can transfer your game save from a bad physical copy to a digital copy which is what I did.I've been playing my first New Leaf town,Catlips,on a digital copy since then.I'm not sure if this is what happened to your game but it's a possibility.

Whattt! That?s awesome to know... if I already have second town digital copy will it overwrite that town if I save a digital copy from my cartridge?

I’ve had my town close for maybe 2.5 years now but I’ve been playing the same cartridge for 4 years so I do get a little worried that something bad might happen if I accidentally knock my system. Nothing bad so far though! I did have the strangest error my first few years of playing, but it never ended in corruption - basically every time I opened my storage and then closed it, like a closet or the lockers at the trianstation, my game would error out and boot me out. I would lose all my progress for the day, so I made it a habit to save my game before opening a closet for the chance that might happen. I remember one of the main reasons I joined this forum was to ask if anyone knew anything about this bug! Fortunately it was fixed after the amiibo update.

I didn?t know you had an error like that in your town?!

I had a similar error with my mayors letters. Couldn?t use the post office or open any mail. I had to buy a new cartridge and start a new town. After the update I came back to the town and all my letters were gone but it was fixed!

They really did fix the code after the update. I remember daily posts that someone?s town was corrupted.
